Suga's favorite thing was sitting at the very edge of the cliff that looked down upon the Sea of Souls and watching the silver spirits swirl below him. He often spent days just sitting in one place completely motionless, his gaze set upon the deep waters under him. One would think that he would eventually grow bored of the same scene, but his fascination held strong throughout the years of his immortal life.
The Underworld was a beautiful dark place in Suga's eyes. The large Sea of Souls was surrounded by large cliffs and jagged rocks that made the entire realm look like an enormous cave. The waters that were often in motion made no noise, no crash against rocks. The only sounds that often filled the void of sound were the hauntingly beautiful moans of passing souls drifting through the portal connecting the Underworld to the mortal realm.
To the rare visitors that came through the Underworld, the realm would look intimidating and dangerous, but to Suga, it was nothing short of home. Where others would cover their ears to the noise of souls crossing over, he often tilted his head and tried to picture the soul's owner before it joined the others below him. He loved the cold, dark Underworld.
In the very center of the Underworld sat a large dark-stoned palace that was home to Suga and his parents: Hades and Persephone. The two of them often sat in the center room where servants would come in to bring them food and news from Olympus. Whereas the two of them hardly left their palace, Suga spent most of his time outside of it, often in the same spot on the same cliff overlooking the exact same thing every passing day.
So it was with great surprise that Hades appeared beside Suga, his presence bringing about a chilling wave around him. A cold hand touched Suga's shoulder and he looked up at his father standing beside him.
"Do you not grow tired of watching the same thing every day, my son?" Hades' voice was hauntingly beautiful even in Suga's ears. The voice of the God of the Dead had a chilling, alluring voice that turned your insides cold.
"I do not," Suga said evenly, turning his gaze back to the waters below. He kept his gaze on the same soul, watching as it swirled among the others on the surface before dipping down into deeper waters. Hades found himself amused with his son and his endless fascination with the dead.
Hades removed his hand from Suga's shoulder and walked forward on the cliff, also looking down at the Sea of Souls. His black robes often rustled in winds that did not exist, a seemingly natural effect of being the God of the Dead. His long black hair and beard always appeared damp, though if one were to touch it, they would find it dry and singed like it had recently been burnt. It was the pale, blue hue of his skin that made him more fascinating to look at.
"We have received a message today that interests me," Hades said suddenly, still looking down at the swirling mass of spirits.
"And what are the news?"
Hades started walking slowly, his hands behind his back. "It seems there are rumors of Zeus looking for someone to become his successor. They are only quiet rumors that have been brought to me by the passing spirits, but still, I find myself fascinated in the possibility of my brother stepping down."
Suga watched his father walk in short paces in front of him. He had never seen him interested in anything. But the possibility of Zeus stepping down...even Suga had to admit that it sounded unthinkable.
"Zeus would never do such a thing," Suga said dimly. "No God has ever decided to do something as stupid as that."
Hades laughed and Suga felt chills slide down his spine at the sound. "That was my exact same thought, my boy, but then another rumor reached my ears and I just had to come to you," Hades said, stopping his pacing right in front of Suga.
