# 79 Sophitz

"Sophie, come on. You cant just stand here in the clear path of the Neverseen. You need to come inside." Sandor insisted in his nasally voice.

"Sandor, I'll be fine. Honestly." Sophie said, trying to assure Sandor, but failing miserably.

"Miss Foster, if you don't come inside this instant..." he warned, "I will get Mister Vacker to come and bring you inside. Or I will do it myself."

She stood defiantly, muscles unmoving. "No thank you. I will fight them by myself. I won't keep putting my friends in danger."

"Mrs. Reuwen, please supervise your daughter while I gather Fitz."

"Yes sir." Edaline said in a joking manner. "Sophie, you have to go inside." She said, lowering her voice multiple octaves.

"Doo do do do do do doooo." Sophie sang, clearly amused. Not long after, Fitz arrived with Sandor.

"Sophie, come on. Just go inside already." Fitz said pleadingly.

"No." Sophie argued, stubborn as a rhino.

A flash of light drew their attention to the pastures. There, clothed in black, stood 3 members of the Neverseen. Fintan, Ruy, and Umber. A forcefield created a barrier, preventing both Goblin throwing stars and Sophies abilities.

"This is what I was waiting for!! I knew they would come eventually. Now I can pound their faces in one by one." Sophie grumbled menacingly, quite a turn from her previous demeanor.

"Sophie get behind me. Now." Fitz demanded.

"No Fitz, I don't need protecting. You go back to Everglen. I can handle this."

"I don't need protecting." Fitz retorted.

The Never seen were inching along, getting closer and closer to the small group. Edaline ran back to the pastures, getting Grady, while Sandor moved hastily to the front of the fighting pair.

"Fitz move."

"No."

"I don't want you gettung hurt."

"Don't forget I've been impaled before. By a giant spider bug thing."

"I've stopped counting how many times I've almost died. Whats another one?"

Fitz grabbed Sophie by the shoulders, picking her up bridal style, set her in his arms, and ran towards Havenfield. In order to reach the Leap Master, he would have to run up the stairs, but he knew Sophie would try to go back to fight.

Pulling out his Pathfinder already set to Everglen, he held it up to the sun, and gripped Sophies shoulders. "Concentrate."

They glittered into the courtyard of Everglen, Sophie angered by Fitz's actions.

"Fitz, why did you do that?"

"Because I care about you. You cant ALMOST die AGAIN. I won't let you."

"But...but...but.... You could've died if they actually attacked. I was trying to take care of you." Sophie whined.

"How about we take care of each other?"

"I'd like that. Take care of each other."
