Song: Basketball - Lil Bow Wow
**************************
"For every layup y'all miss, it will count as 1 suicide! We will not bash or judge anyone for missing! This is practice, therefore you learn until you get it right! You won't get anywhere without teamwork! So I suggest y'all encourage and support each other! We are in this together right!?
"YES COACH!!" The girls yelled in unison. Sonny nods and have her basketball players separate into two different groups. One side for the layup, the other to catch the rebound and pass it back to the first group. And repeat.
"LET'S GO!" Sonny blows her whistle and practice begins. She watches as her girls motivate each other and push forward. They have made great progress from summer camp and are working better with their techniques and plays. This is what Sonny loves about coaching; to see her players growth and achievements. But most importantly, they begin to understand that you have to work as a team.
"Good! Good! Switch Sides! Kiara work on that left hand! Shayla you can't keep looking at the ground while you dribble! Look up!" Sonny pointed out before looking down at her watch. She sighs wondering where her team captain, Teri, might be. They have been practicing for close to an hour. It's not like her to be late for practice but lately she has been and Sonny was worried.
Just as she was about to blow her whistle to stop her players, the green gym doors burst open and Teri rushes in, her backpack hanging off shoulder and her Viking's (Norland's Mascot) duffel bag in her hand.
"Girls! Stop and take a water break." Sonny instructs. The girls drop the basketball instantly and rushes over to the water cooler Sonny brings every practice. She chuckles hearing some them moan about freedom.
Sonny turns back around just as Teri stops in front of her, putting her hands on her knees trying to catch her breath. Sonny just stares at her, arms folded across her chest.
"Sorry...I'm late....Coach..I can...Explain." She says standing back up straight.
Teri was not by any means a bad kid. She excelled in her grades, she works hard on and off the court. Teri has shown promising dedication and leadership among her peers.
Sonny knew Teri wasn't perfect, and she doesn't expect that, but if Teri was going to be the captain this year, she had to understand that it's an important role to be played.
"This is the fourth time this week Teri. I did not appoint you team captain for you to start slacking off. It's only the second week of school and I do not like what I'm seeing. I expect better from you." Sonny lectured. Teri looks down with her head hung, shame written all over her face. "Yes coach. And I know, I promise to do better."
Sonny sighs and unfolds her arms, putting her hand on top of Teri's head, "Hey, I'm only hard on you because I know what you and your teammates can achieve. But they need their team captain on her A-game. It won't be me leading this team to the state championship. It will be you."
Teri lifts her head up and Sonny smiles, nudging her towards the locker-room, "Hurry and go get changed captain. You have five minutes before we continue" Teri nods and jogs across the gym to go change.
"Oh and Teri," Sonny calls out before she enters the room. Teri turns around, "Yes coach?"
"That's 8 laps around the gym when you're done changing" Teri groans and goes inside the locker-room.

"Alright! That's enough! Captain call it in so we can go home!" Sonny yells.
