Today was nice.
Not in the nice sense where all the bees were buzzing, birds flocking about, and singing their morning songs to the big bright blue sky that held not a single cloud in it, No.
The sky was different, a good different.
See, the sky didn't show it's brilliant blue that it's known for. Though it did show some splotches of it, if you will.
Today, the sky that was as blue as a painted canvas became covered of the color grey, great big puffs of greys.
It dulled the world around her and all the living and nonliving things that fell under it, but surely she didn't mind, it wasn't bad, in fact, it made the world seem…..softer.
Kinder then what it had to offer.
The girl laid on the grassy part of a cliff, one so tall that falling off of it meant instant death, for any normal being. Luckily, she laid a few feet away from the edge, safe from the sharp rocks below, looking up to the dulled sky. The soft cool grass beneath her matched the color of her dress and danced along the small breeze that passed them.
A small smile spread across the girls face, taking in this quiet peaceful moment.
Peaceful moments are a bit rare to enjoy by yourself.
Within a few minutes the sounds of leaves crunching behind the girl made it to her ears, snapping her out of her trance. She slowly sat up and stretched, brushing off any grass or leaves that may have attached itself to her. By then, she turned her head to see a familiar masked face.
Another smile spread across the girls face as the masked person walked to her, taking a seat by her, brushing their cloak aside for them to sit on.
She remembered when she first saw them, or when they first came to be. Tightly enclosed to a small space, perhaps it was hard to breath, or even hope to have someone scream for help. The dirt that might have inched its way to the small cell that held them inside, probably drowning them off all air or sunlight, if the lid didn't.
If they were to live at that time, would they have banged on the door? It's what she usually thought to herself. Would they call for help? Scream for it and scratch at the wooden confinement till their fingers bled for any source of light, or even someone.
Perhaps.
She didn't know.
Neither did they.
They weren't there to scream for any rescue.
Luckily, when she did find them, all the worms and maggots did their job, riding them of any skin or anything that served as flesh. Burying them deep within the dirt where not even the devil themselves could hear them scream, though they still lingered within the bones, hoping for any-
……
The girl blinked, bringing her hand to her cheek, wiping a drop of water from it as it suddenly brought her back to reality from her thoughts. She looked up to the sky and blinked her eyes away as more small drops of water fell to her face.
A light shower had started.
She shook her head, turning back to the mask person, ignoring the small drops of water falling on her.
The masked person tilted their head to her, but before they could speak, she reached forward.
The girl gently pulled their dark red hood back, letting it fall to their shoulders before going for the mask. She smiled to herself as she removed the mask from their face, her eyes meeting their rose shaped ones, the ones she adored so much.
Rather then the hallow black ones she first found.
“Did you manage to find it?”
