Chapter Nineteen: See you soon

"Len" I yelled.

I run to her and I start to panic.

"Somebody call the ambulance!" I yelled.

"I'm on it" said Aunica.

Aunica walks away along with her friends calling for an ambulance.

"Len wake up Len" I said "Guys what's happening?!" I exclaimed.

"Len is sick" said Lucia as she sat beside me.

I look at Len and hold her even more tightly.

The ambulance arrives and the medics enter the room, they carry Len on the strecher and bring her inside the ambulance. I try to go inside the ambulance but they say only family members are allowed.

"I'm her sister" said Lucia "He can come with".

The medics let both of us in and we drive away to the hospital. On the way there I ask Lucia a question.

"Your her sister? Aren't you her cousin?"

"I'm not her cousin, but her little sister" answered Lucia as she looked at Len.

"How?" I ask.

Lucia tells me their story, how the status of their family is. Why didn't Len tell me any of this.

We arrive at the hospital and the nurses rush her in the E.R.
A doctor goes to me and Lucia and asks us a question.

"What happened?"

"I don't know she just--"

"She has Leukemia doctor, this is the third time she has fainted, she has also spitted blood" said Lucia as she cut me off.

"Alright then, I'll see what I can do from here" said the doctor.

She walks away from us and into the E.R.

"Leukemia?" I said.

I look at Lucia for answers.

"Yes... She has been doing chemotherapy but that Leukemia is pushing her to the edge" she explained.

"Why didn't she tell me anything about this?" I ask her.

"Because she was afraid to see you get hurt of this ugly news that she has" said Lucia.

"She could have told me this! I could have helped her" I exclaimed.

Lucia drags me out of the building and into the hospital garden.

"What makes you think you can help her huh!? By breaking her heart again and again?! By being her worst best friend!? By being another pathetic loser!?" She exclaimed.

"You can do nothing from here Ethan, I can't even do anything to make her live longer".

I stand there with my mouth shut and Lucia enters the building again to wait outside the E.R.

I stand alone outside the building looking up to the night sky, I get to my knees and pray.

"God, I know I don't talk to you often, I know I am no perfect child of yours, but please. I beg of you, don't take my best friend away from me, please..."

After an hour or so, I enter the hospital again and find Lucia with Aunt Riley and Len grandpa.

"Ms. Smith..." I said.

She turns around along with Lens grandpa and I continue

"I'm sorry" I apologize.

Aunt Riley pulls me in a hug and I start to sob.
