Split Second

The television continued showing the same boring, meaningless commercial. There, on the oak table, sat books that I've already read multiple times. The heart rate monitor went "BEEP!" every 20 seconds as if it's counting down my death. Here I am again confined in this small space that was enclosed in pale white walls which seemed to match the boring bed sheets that were on my bed, and from there, I looked out of the window and admired the dragon flame-red autumn leaves that were gleaming and twirling in a beautiful dance. Children are screaming outside in a cheerful voice as the leaves crunch underneath their feet. I closed my eyes as I felt the cool icy breeze on my cheeks. "Code blue! It's code blue!" It was only a split second, but I seem to remember all those features she had in just that split second; the doctor rushed past my room while screaming. I thought she was the most beautiful creature that I'd ever seen, a tiny, fragile angel who is immersed in her blood.
