Don't you have a mate?" Bella asked
The two where sitting in the living room. Everyone was out hunting. Good puppy dog Seth was next to him sleeping and drooling. Renesmee was sleeping next to Bella who had been staring at Kalen for the past hour.
"Yes I do..." Kalen said as he stared at the fire
"So why did you and Vladimir...-" Bella started
"Me and Vlad are lovers." Kalen concluded
"Oh. Yes of course...." Bella said
A few minutes passed and Kalen sighed and looked at Bella.
"What?"
"Ok but isn't that like cheating?" Bella asked
"No me and Alec aren't together!" Kalen said uncomfortably
"Oh," Bella said, "I'm sorry. I didn't know!"
Kalen sighed.
"Yes well when I left the Volturi he sent me a letter about a year later with my Volturi ring that I had given him years ago," Kalen explained, "I knew he meant that it was over. At the time I was being hunted by Vladimir and Stefan. They where trying to get revenge on the Volturi."
Kalen sighed and stared at the fire.
"After I broke pretty much all of Stefan's bones and almost tore his head off. Vladimir convinced me to stay." Kalen explained more, "I did and one thing lead to another."
"Oh so you and Vladimir just umm 'hook up' sometimes?" Bella asked
Kalen glanced at her. If Bella could be blushing this would be the moment.
"I suppose," Kalen said, "he can do things to my body that not many can do...."
Kalen grinned as Bella shifted in her seat and looked down.

Seth and him sat outside. They where staring at the stars.
"Aren't stars just so pretty?" Seth rambled on, "I want to name a star after my imprint. But I heard there crazy expensive! Oooh if you could have a star what would you-"
"Shut the hell up!" Kalen commanded and Seth did at once
It was silent.
"Stars are beautiful..." Kalen said, "when I was in the Volturi Alec and I would go to the rooftop and watch the stars! It was a more peaceful time back then...."
Seth glanced at Kalen and gave a pleading look.
"Fine you can talk!" Kalen said rolling his eyes
Seth gasped as he opened his mouth.
"If you miss Alec so much just go back. Why stay here. And why the hell are you still sleeping with that weird Vladimir dude!" Seth said
Kalen chuckled.
"I left the Volturi because I knew it didn't need me. Sure it's much lousier when I left but it wasn't the right place for me," Kalen explained, "I was born in Greece. Long time ago. I couldn't even remember. I know that I was changed by one of the original vampires. I was just a newborn when I went rabid. I changed Aro and Marcus myself. For no reason. But at that moment on they where my responsibility."
Kalen sighed
"After years of training them and myself. I changed Caius. Then we moved to Italy and started the Volturi. A place where vampires could be to protect our kind. We started making more vampire globally. It spread like a deadly virus," Kalen cringed, "the more we created the more we knew that we had to create laws in order to protect us and our kind. It was stupid really...."
Kalen closed his eyes.
"But you left?" Seth asked
"Oh yes I did! When I did I left everything I had cherished behind as well. Alec.... yeah that's pretty much if!" Kalen said
"And you're here with us because?" Seth said in confusion
"Because of the red socks!"

Flashback
"Are you kidding me?" Kalen snapped at Carlisle.
It had only been two whole days since they left the Volturi and they where already in trouble. There robes had to go but that left them with weird traditional Volturi clothing they wore underneath.
Carlisle and Kalen had traveled North and stopped in a place called "Jamestown"
Carlisle help up a pair of red socks.
"What in the hell are those?" Kalen snapped.
"There socks so your feet don't get dirty!" Carlisle explained
"It was a rhetorical question!" Kalen snarled
"Just put them on!" Carlisle said, "you gotta blend in you can just go around killing people. Then the Volturi will know where we are!"
"Like you care!" Kalen snarled
"I do care," Carlisle continued, "Why do you think I helped you! Now put on those red socks will you?"

"He was kind...." Kalen said, "He helped me get away and not be found. I owe him. It's why I'm here."
"Do you miss him?" Seth asked, "your mate I mean!"
Kalen sighed and stared at the stars once more.
"Everyday....." he started, "I miss him everyday"
