Chloe

" Chloe, are you ready to go?"

" Huh?" I say, zoning out of my thoughts of, well... Nothing. I turn around by pushing the ground with my feet in my swively chair. Liam is standing there, his hand pressed against the table, his body leaning torwards it. I flinched when I saw his face. He still had a black eye from the fight earlier, making his eye swell almost completly shut. His voice didn't have the same excitment in it. His voice sounded tired, probably from recording songs all day.

" Ready to go?" He repeats, but no annoyance in his tone. He was always so patient.

" Yep," I respond, standing up and grabbing my bag, ready to leave. It has been a long day. From the whole restaraunt fiasco to the rest of the day in the recording studio, I was glad to go home.

Home.

The more I think about home, the sadder I got. Here in Florida, it wasn't home. Let's just call it a... Vacation home. Blue Lake, South Carolina is where my real home is.

I slung my bag over my shoulder, and followed Liam out the door.

I looked out the window in the hallway. It was already pitch black out.

" Jeez, what time is it?!" I ask, exasperated.

" 10:30," Liam answers, taking his phone out if his pocket to check, then quickly putting it away from all of the notifications blowing up on his lockscreen.

I sigh. These precious summer days just go by so fast. Last I remember, it was still 9:00. But I can't really do anything about that; The boys are always so busy.

I look up at Liam and see his black eye again, plus a few bruises on his arms. I feel so bad for him right now.

" Liam?" I ask as we are in the elevator riding down to the car that would take us back to the condo.

" Yeah?" He says, looking down at me. His usual happy chocolate brown eyes are replaced by one sad and tired-looking darker brown one, and one so swollen you could barely see it.

" I'm- I'm really sorry for what happened earlier today. I had no idea Brock would've been there the same time we were," I say guiltily. I knew he was in a lot of pain right now. I have and probably would never feel the pain he is in - wait, maybe I did. After all, Brock did bully me. But he didn't hurt me physically, just emotionally. But very bad emotionally.

" It's okay, really. I couldn't just stand there and watch you getting hurt by that jerk." He says, scowling when he says 'jerk'.

I smile. It feels good to have someone actually care, instead of just standing there and laughing at you, like back in Michigan. My friends weren't really true friends.
