Oakley's POV
After a steady month of unpacking boxes & putting everything in its place, our apartment finally started to look like our own. I would be lying if I said I didn't miss my friend back in Carolina, but Niall has always been there for me no matter what. Living without him in the same city, let alone the same state would be next to impossible. I figured I could make a trip to see my friends every once in a while & maybe they would come to see me too. But who knows, maybe I'll make some good friends here as well.

It was a Tuesday afternoon when I got the call. It was a diner that I had applied to about a week ago. A woman by the name of Tiffany had spoken to me over the phone, explaining that she was the owner of the diner & would love to meet me for a job interview. So, we set it up for that coming Friday at nine in the morning. I was excited, but also quite nervous.
"Guess what Ni?!" I said, a bit excitedly as he walked into the room. He had just got back from a jog in the park.
"What?" He asked, walking into the kitchen & opening the fridge.
"I have an interview on Friday at that diner I applied for."
"Really?"
I nodded as I smiled.
"Good for you Oaks." He replied with a smile on his face. As he grabbed a bottle of water & popped the cap off. "I told you everything would be okay." He said after taking some water.
"Yeah. Hopefully it works itself out. The owner sounded nice over the phone anyways."***
Friday morning had arrived & it was time for my interview. I wore a black T-shirt dress that fell to my knees. I wore black flats with a bow & a rose gold belt on my waist. I went into the restaurant & was greeted by a girl, probably around my age. I didn't quite catch her name, but she went into the back & when she came back out she had Tiffany with her. Tiffany brought me into the staffroom & closed the door. We talked for half an hour. She asked me questions about the job & just about my life in general. At the end she offered me a waitress position. When I accepted the offer she told me a bit more about the job & asked if I could start the following Monday on a grave yard shift. I agreed & then I was off on my way.
I knew Niall wouldn't be home, as he had orientation today. I made myself some lunch & just watched some Netflix. It started to rain now. It was the end of August & the fall weather was definitely starting to move in. Probably would be sporting a jumper or windbreaker starting in a week or two. I took a hot shower & put on some track pants & a tank top. I went on twitter for a while & also had a conversation on WhatsApp with my friends back home for a while.
Niall had shot me a text, telling me not to make anything for dinner because he would be bringing pizza home. So I just lazied around until he got home.
At around six, I heard a knock at the door. I got up & opened it to find Niall standing there with a box of pizza, unable to get his keys out. I smiled & took the box from him & walked to the kitchen.
"Thanks." He said as he closed the door & followed behind me. "So how did it go this morning?" He asked as we reached the counter & I had put the box down.
"It was good. I start a week long training period on Monday night. We'll see how that goes I guess."
"That's great. Maybe you'll make some new friends now."
"Yeah, hopefully. I've been missing going out on the weekends with friends... have you made any new friends? I know it was your first day today but..."
"I haven't had much time today to socialize. I did meet this guy though. He's cool. Reminds me a bit of Jack from back home."
"What's his name?" I ask.
"Liam... he's been working there for a year & a half now. Seems like a proper nice guy."
"That's good... what about any girls?" I tease.
"No Oak, you know I'm not looking for a girlfriend right now. I've got so much of my single life yet to live. I don't want to rush it. But it will happen when it happens."
"Okay." I said. Then we sat down to eat.
