I had just turned 10 when my mom told me of my talent, and no it was not singing or some dumb crap like that. I was going to get powers. Powers from to worlds. Powers that brought nature to peace. Powers of fire and water.
My mom said these words that I would never forget, "make sure to use this power for pleasure and love not for evil and hatred." At this moment my mom got up and handed me a ring. I asked what it was for. "This ring will keep the two powers balanced so you wont hurt yourself." Said mom. I stared down at the ring. It glowed for a second then tightened to fit my small finger.
Then my sister Becky knocked on the closed door of my pink small bedroom excitedly. " Are you done telling her yet?" Becky yelled from the other side of the door. "Yes I am." My mom said reassuringly. Then mom left the room. Becky waltzed in and sat on the bed where mom had just sat and stated that she would be my teacher because she had these powers herself. I asked if there was a reason to have these powers. "To keep the world balanced of course!" Becky said as if I should have known, "and if any things go wrong we use our powers." This seemed easy enough. But I was wrong. We trained every day after school. Of course I wasn't allowed to talk to anyone about it. It was hard not to tell my best friends, but I resisted. Becky was 15 at the time and was the best sister I could ever have. She would tell stories of Dragons and heroes and knights and villains, but never of princesses in distress or weak dainty ladies that couldn't save themselves. I guess she wanted me to be the hero instead of wanting to be stuck in a castle until some douche bag saves me and claims me because I have no other choice. Slowly I became more self aware of danger and became more agile and quick to protect me because I new no random guy would help me. I never felt physical pain unless it was not in my control. I felt less mental pain then the girls in my school, too. I was very strong hearted and took karate classes and gymnastic lesions. I was a good child. I did not deserve what was later to come.
