I had to run faster, my pursuer was gaining on me. It was hard running in boots, and the rain pouring down didn't make it much easier. I kept running anyway. Based on all the times I looked back, I could make a guess that the person following me was a man. The person had broad shoulders and made loud grunting sounds as they ran. The man's knife glinting with rain in the streetlights. Why was he after me? What had I ever done? He was wearing all black with a white mask covering his identity. I raced around a corner hoping to get away. I soon realized that there was no escape; it was a dead end. I whirled around to see the man leap into the air. I tried to move out of the way, but I slipped. Everything seem to go in slow motion as I fell, the man got closer. My vision got blurry around the edges.
¨Please...don't...¨ I started to say as everything slowly went black.
I couldn't see, I couldn't move. As I slowly awoke, I could dimly register the pain swelling through my body. It was coming from the right side of my stomach, the pain was so agonizing, I wanted to scream. I tried to cry out but a gag in my mouth blocked me from even letting out a whimper. I strained my ears and eyes trying to see or hear where I was. I could hear an engine so I assumed I was in the trunk of a car. My eyes weren't much help since it was completely black where i was. All of a sudden the car jerked to a sudden stop. I held my breath. I heard a door swing shut as my pursuer stepped out of the car. I started struggling to get out, if I could just loosen the ropes on my hands. Before I could even wiggle my hands free, I heard the trunk open and felt a sharp pain ram into my face. My ears rang and the edges of my vision were red; I had to stay conscience. Soon it became too much for me, and I blacked out again.

My head throbbed as I regained conscience, I was in a small room with a dirt floor. I was tied to a post with a gag in my mouth. I quickly surveyed the room. It seemed to be a shack with a small window and a old, rotting door. I struggled to get the ropes off. After a few minutes of wiggling like a worm, I broke free. I ripped the gag out of my mouth and threw it to the floor. I rubbed my arms where the ropes had cut into them. It was strange, they didn't hurt. I felt my side, it felt fine. What is going on? I thought as I walked to the door. I let myself gasp as I opened the door.
I was in a forest that sparkled with color. The leaves shimmered as they fell from the trees. They rippled with color; blues, greens, reds, pinks, purples, and many more. The whole forest was an ever-changing rainbow of color. As i looked around, out of the corner of my eye I saw something move. I whirled around. ¨Who's there?¨ I said as I looked around the ocean of color.
I looked towards the branches and perched atop a tree was a creature that resembled a rainbow phoenix. It had a blue-purple body and a bright rainbow colored tail. It cocked its head to the side, examining me. I gaped at it, it was beautiful. Where in the world was I? Surely I was dreaming or maybe this was some sort of setup. Hadn't I just been nearly killed while being kidnapped? I looked around me.... it was all so beautiful. I started to relax. Maybe this was reality...or heaven. The phoenix squawked. I looked to where the phoenix was perched. I stared at it, it stared back. All of a sudden the phoenix flew towards me, I ducked. I thought it was going to attack me but no, the phoenix landed gently right in front of me. Slowly, hesitantly, I raised my arm towards its face. Just when it was about to lean its head towards me, there was a loud bang and out of the Phoenix's forehead erupted a stream of blood. I watched as the phoenix's body went limp and fell to the ground. I whirled toward the direction the bullet had come from. A boy about my age came through the trees.
¨Why did you do that!?¨ I screamed, ¨It was an innocent creature!!!¨
The boy calmly walked up to me and said, ¨If that Rain-Phoenix had touched you, you would be dead right now. You should be grateful I saved you.¨
