Jane's P.O.V

We did it...we actually did it....we beat him...zalgo is gone...but at a cost...a huge one at that....after the battle we teleported back to the mansion and informed everyone about the bad news...

Slenda is gone...so is jackie...so many lives have been lost over the course of this month...peter even lost his aunt...the only family he had left...I'm sorry pete...

This victory wouldn't have been possible without him....when Peter returned I was relieved....I'm so glad he's back with us...

i also wasn't expecting zalgo to possess the CEO of oscorp...a.k.a Norman Osborn...that was a shocker, But the biggest shock came from peter himself...that power...how did he get so strong? It's like he became a man possessed.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I saw peter and harry walk inside the room with blank expressions...i could tell that this battle took a huge toll on them mentally...

Harry just let out an exhausted sigh and sat down on the floor with peter doing the same.

I then saw clockwork enter the room in bandages, she then looked towards peter and he then stood up...she walked up to him and looked in his eyes...

"Is Slenda okay?" She asked, i can see the pain in his eyes...he doesn't know how he's going to tell her the bad news, He then looked away from her causing her to cup his face with both hands.

"Look at me peter!....did she make it? please tell me she's okay!" Clockwork yelled with tears forming in her eyes, I then felt tears well up in my eyes and i then looked away from the scene.

"...... I'm sorry nat.....s-slenda's gone...." he said with his voice trembling, At this point Natalie collapsed on the floor and broke down and began sobbing while Peter knelt down to comfort her.

"I tried to keep her safe nat.....i couldn't....i failed...." peter said while looking away.

"It's not your fault peter..Stop blaming yourself..." Natalie reassured..

"It is my fault!.....I should have been faster....all that power....and I couldn't even use it to save her.....who am i kidding i couldn't even save my aunt...." he said solemnly..

"Peter?" Natalie asked as she raised his head up to look at her.

"Yes?" He asked, with a saddened expression still present on his face..

"Shut up, You are a hero.....your job is to protect people....not sit around and cry like a little bitch and feel sorry for yourself and carry the entire weight of the world on your shoulders...you had a job to do and you did it....you stopped zalgo and kept us safe...and even though slenda didn't make it....she would be glad that we are all still here..." Natalie said trying to lift his spirits.

"And what would your aunt say if she saw you beating yourself up like this? I know I don't know her like you do but from what you've told us she sounds like a great person....you might not have been able to save her, but she would be very proud of the things you've done for us and the city....i would be proud of my nephew too if I knew he was risking his life saving people everyday." Natalie continued.

"You've been through so much this month peter....all the pain...the people you lost....you even died!....but that doesn't matter....you know why?" She said moving her hands to his shoulders..

"Because even after all of the hell you've been put through....after all the people that died.....you always got back up....you never gave up.....you refused to go down....even when the odds were stacked pretty high.....you rose to the occasion and you conquered ever challenge that came your way....and you did it all with a smile on your face." Natalie said smiling softly.
