I couldn't take it anymore. If I didn't leave soon, I don't know what I would do. Even if just for the night, I needed an escape.

And escape I did.

Out the gold encrusted window I went, running full speed through the endless backyards, tears streaming down my face. As I reached the end of the block, I found an old mahogany. I buried myself in my own embrace, and sobbed out everything that was left of me. My sobs turned into whimpers, and I lay there shaking, pondering what the hell I was going to do. It was then when I first met him.

I felt a soft and warm hand reach out to me, tentatively caressing my arm. I slowly looked up, and met the gaze of the most beautiful pair of eyes I'd ever seen. They were big and blue, the most perfect blue imaginable. I felt myself drowning in his stare, like looking into the ocean at sunset. I couldn't pull away, like a magnetic field dragged me to them. They were radiating the strongest warmth of kindness I'd ever felt. We sat there, unmoving, his soft hand on my icy and trembling arm, looking into each others' eyes for what felt like millions of light years. It wasn't until the rain started pouring down that I finally pulled myself out of his trance. He pulled his hand away and I shyly hid my arm and looked down, despite such a strong desire to meet his flawless eyes again. We stood there in silence, afraid to break the magical spell that had aroused in the air.

"We should look for shade."

Hearing his voice made my stomach double over in flips and twirls. I nodded slightly and followed his lead, keeping my eyes on his blue and white Supras, muddy and wet. He walked less than 2 feet in front of me, and I slowly brought up my eyes to the back of his head. His hair seemed so blonde it was almost white at the top, but where his roots began the brown origins seemed to creep in the most perfect way. His light blue polo clung tightly to him, soaking wet, and his skinny jeans hung loosely around his waist, revealing the top of his dark blue Calvin Klein boxers. We walked in silence, and I continued analyzing this mysterious guy in every way possible inside my head.

After what seemed like hours, we stumbled upon an abandoned warehouse, and decided to settle there. It wasn't until we sat down that I became aware of my appearance. I was wearing a pair of boxer shorts, with a white tank top and pink sports bra underneath. Fuzzy monkey slippers sheltered my feet, along with knee high purple socks, and my tangled light brown hair in a messy ponytail at the top of my head. I could also feel my red and puffy eyes, joined by what were undoubtedly trails of black mascara that decorated my now make-up free face. On top of everything else I was soaked in freezing cold rain. I felt my cheeks flush and burn, as he examined me from head to toe. Extreme embarrassment is an understatement for how I felt during those eternal 5 seconds. I slowly looked up to meet his gaze, terrified of his reaction. I was surprised though, when I saw a small smile form around his lips.

"You look like a mess", he said in an accent I was yet to place, and laughed softly, "And cold. Do you want a blanket? I have a couple hidden in the closet."

"Yeah... please." I spoke softly, still trying to process what was happening. He came back in less than a minute, giving me no time to prepare myself to have a stable conversation. He handed me a soft blue blanket, and I wrapped myself around it. He proceeded to do the same with his own, and sat down 2 feet away from me.

"I'm Niall," he said, and reached out his hand for me to grasp.

Part 2

"Sofie," I replied, and took his hand. We shook, but lingered just a few seconds longer than required . I looked back up at his sweet eyes, and for the first time in weeks, felt myself release the smallest of smiles. He smiled right back, a huge smile, with a single crooked tooth that made my heart leap with joy. There was something so magical about his smile.
