There was a lot of domestic violence calls that we had to deal with the first month. It was scary to think that so many couples resorted to abuse when they are not on the same page. But in my home, Elliot and I never had enough energy to have something to fight about. Every day got us closer to our two year anniversary and closer to being detectives. The whole thought about being parents kinda faded away when we got completely involved in our lives and that big five-year milestone didn't even seem that big anymore.
"I punched a guy today." I smiled, as Elliot and I sat down for dinner in our living room. He looked over at me before grabbing my hand and examining my bruised knuckles.
"Why did you punch a guy?" Elliot smiled. He may be questioning why I did it, but he was proud.
"Because he went to hit his wife again when we were there for a domestic violence call, so I punched him and he didn't try that again." I smiled, as I grabbed a pair of chopsticks so I could start eating.
"What did Officer Hardass say?" Elliot asks, as he grabbed a container of take-out and started to dig in.
"He just said that it was a nice one and then we arrested the husband and sent the wife to the hospital to have her get some x-rays on her ribs and leg."
"You are really doing great, babe." Elliot smiled before he leaned over and kissed me softly.
"What about you, El? Are you having fun being a cop?" I asked, and he shrugged.
"I guess. I don't really know. I miss being with you all the time, and we just patrol around the neighborhood and pull people over for speeding or broken tail lights. You go and actually do stuff that seems interesting."
"El, maybe if you would've been placed in my precinct you would've been doing this all, but Munch asked me to be placed in that precinct so he could keep an eye on me like my Dad asked," I replied. Elliot nodded slowly as he continued to eat.
"If it bothers you, I'll stop talking about work," I spoke, and he sighed.
"If we don't talk about work, what do we really have to talk about?" He asked, and my eyes went wide as I looked at him.
"Oh." I sighed.
"Liv, we just work and work. We barely have time for each other, and when we do we are either too tired or busy trying to get our uniforms washed for when we work next."
"What do you want to do?" I asked, and he frowned.
"I want to start thinking about kids and a house." He breathed, and I swallowed hard. So much for thinking that our five-year plan wasn't important anymore.

I was a little distracted the next day. Elliot really wanted to move ahead with things, when we only just started to work as officers. I don't want to be put on desk duty before I even get enough experience to start studying for the detective's exam. I know that Elliot is ready, but I do not think he realizes that it wouldn't be affecting his job the way it will be mine.
"Benson, are you getting out or what?" Ian huffed, as he stood next to his open door. I looked over at him.
"What?"
"We are on a call, stupid. Get your ass out." He spat, and I quickly opened my door and got out. I quickly walked behind him and towards the park. There was a fight between several people, and we were called in to break it up.
"Alright, get off of him!" I yelled as I gripped the arms of a younger woman who was really kicking these guy's ass.
"Let me go!" She screamed back. I pulled a little hard and managed to get her off of the man, while Ian tried to stop a few more people. I pulled the woman's arms behind her back and handcuffed her as she spits and screamed at the man that was trying to recover from what had just happened.
"What do you think you are doing?" I asked her, as I stood in front of her and held her arms tightly.
"That bastard has to pay!" She yelled, and I sighed.
"What did he do?" I asked.
"He keeps hurting women. Killing them after he rapes them. He hurts so many people but no one cares." She huffed. I turned around and saw Ian watching me.
"Ian, arrest this man," I spoke, and he eyed me for a long moment before picking the man up and handcuffing him.
"Are you really going to help me?" She asked, and I nodded slowly.
"I'll try."
[*]
"Lieutenant?" I questioned, as I knocked on the door of Munch's office. He looked up from his desk and smiled.
"Hey, Liv." He spoke, before motioning me to come into his office. I walked in and held onto my vest as I spoke.
"We broke up a fight today. A woman was beating the crap out of this man and a few other fights came from it because people had been pushed and didn't know who pushed them and stuff. But the girl claims that the man she was beating up is a rapist and a murderer."
"Where are they?" He asked quickly.
"In holding downstairs. Do you want us to bring them up and you can take it from here?" I questioned, and he sighed nodded.
"Yeah." He frowned.
John followed me downstairs and signed all the paperwork so the case could be transferred. Ian and I transported the man and the female upstairs but at separate times and made sure that they were in the holding cells far away from each other.
As I walked outside to get some air because something about this all seemed weird, a man ran up to me frantically.
"Sir, what's wrong?" I asked.
"My son was arrested. I need to see him. He said that my daughter arrested him." He spoke, frantically.
"Uh, I don't think that anyone was arrested by family today. Sorry." I spoke, but then he looked me over and his eyes went wide.
"Olivia."
