And suddenly we became "gay people." Because the identification as people wasn't enough. We became less than human, accessories, genderless purse pups defined as toys being dragged around by tweenie bop barbie girls. To some we became devil worshippers, nothing more than a sexual orientation.
Now there's a gay accent though most of us have no clue how to act or dress gay. Now a straight man can be gay without the desire to have another man's body against his own like a river feeding into an ocean. Now a straight woman can be a dyke because she likes her hair cut short. Now people who are of other orientation than hetero are scared of who they are.
Suddenly faggot no longer means a bundle of sticks. We carry a rainbow as our symbol. Please, remind me why we need a symbol. Remind why kids who like the idea of loving the same sex are killing themselves? Why are any kids killing themselves?
Acceptance. This is all, as humans, we should ever ask for. Yet it is far too much. Too much to ask for, to beg for, to plead for. We have lost the meaning of acceptance and adopted pain and discrimination in it's place. Isn't it perfect?
Now we are gay people. Now we are taught that homosexuality is wrong and we hurt iurselves because we are wrong. Corrupt. Crooked. Fags. Bad apples. Black sheep.
Acceptance. We should work towards acceptance. Letting love be love and leaving it be. Because love is love. Because love is acceptance.
