Driving

I hopped in my beat up Ford

and I headed out of town

I could hardly see the road ahead from the tears streaming down

We had another terrible fight

late one night

soon our house was no longer my home

Your love was all I knew

that much is true

so now I do nothing but roam

I lost my love, my life

my girl, my wife

to the arms of another man

so now I'm out here driving, just as far away as I can

Every time I stop for gas

I think about the past

and all the things that I've done wrong

I'd beg your forgiveness

for every single one

but the list is too damn long

I lost my love, my life

my girl, my wife

to the arms of another man

so now I'm out here driving, just as far away as I can

I strongly contemplate

through every new state

picking up the phone

But I know that you've moved on

my chance is gone

And I'm out here alone

I lost my love, my life

my girl, my wife

to the arms of another man

so now I'm out here driving, just as far away as I can

Through every small town

I think  I'll settle down

Start to build myself a new life

Instead I pass right through

still thinking of you

this pain is like a knife

I lost my love, my life

my girl, my wife

to the arms of another man

so now I'm out here driving, just as far away as I can

I roll the windows down

been hours since the last town

nothing but farmers fields in sight

Nowhere to stay

could sleep on a bale of hay

instead I drive straight through the night

I lost my love, my life

my girl, my wife

to the arms of another man

so now I'm out here driving, just as far away as I can

Don't know how long I'll drive

maybe till I start to feel alive

instead of dead inside

So many miles I've gone

feel the need to journey on

this lonely man whose lost his bride

I lost my love, my life

my girl, my wife

to the arms of another man

so now I'm out here driving, just as far away as I can

Yeah now I'm out here driving, just as far away as I can

I must continue driving, just as far away as I can.
