Ahlia

I rolled over and sat up to lean on my elbow as I turned my alarm off. I look up and find Rwby, my roommate this year, sitting up and opening the curtains, the sunlight casting through the double window across the small room.

"Ah! Warn me next time!" I yelp flopping down, pulling the duvet over me, after being blinded by the morning sunlight. Knowing Rwby, she's been up since before dawn.

"Come on! We gotta get ready!" She laughs as my blankets, or more accurately my sun protectors get pulled off me.

"Ugh, It's another gosh dang sports day who cares if we're late for breakfast!" I sigh swinging my legs over the side of my bed to sit up.

"Mrs Burn will have our asses if we late remember! And today will be fun! You may... meet a boy!" She exclaims while changing into her P.E gear, as I rub the sleep from my eyes.

"Hopefully." I get up and put the P.E Uniform tights and shirt on.

"Ahlia... Stop." Rwby momentarily stops brushing her dark brown hair that she straightened last night and looked at me through the mirror, concern dominant in her expression.

"What?" I ask confused.

"Wear the shorts they look better on you." She says with a smile as she picks up my pair of the P.E shorts and biffing them at me.

"Really? I thought no one could look good in them..." I trailed off imagining a Russain supermodel trying, but failing, to look good in these shorts.

"Not everyone is tall and has great legs Ahlia! Plus you'll totally snag a dude by showing some skin!"I laughed.

"So we've gone from meeting boys to snagging them have we?" I announced while putting the shorts on.

Once we both laced our sneakers, we made our way to breakfast in the dining hall, after getting our servings we made our way to our year group table.

"Ahlia! How do those shorts look good on you??" Tyrin, a frizzy-haired girl, asked me as I sat down next to her, Rwby sitting opposite me next to Bethany.

"It's so unfair!" Bethany pouted, her short blonde hair somewhat dangled around her glasses.

"I told you so!" Rwby told me matter-of-factly as Susan sat down next to her.

"I wonder if there's gonna be hot guys!" Susan says very very ecstatically, considering she's not a morning person.

"Ooooh, I hope so!" I laugh as Rwby kisses the air winking at non-existant guys.

"I wonder if Ahlia will finally find her 'Athlete Dream Boy'!" Susan jumped up and down in her seat.

"Guys! That dream was like five years ago!" I argue.

"Ahlia connect to the speaker!" Tyrin yells as we clamber into the van and I sit in the back seat next to Rwby.

"But I want to!" Octavia complains loudly from the front of the van.

"Ahlia is the better DJ!" Bethany argued as the van left the school car park.

"Nuh-uh!" They continued to squabble as I connected my phone to the speaker following the somewhat popular demand.

"I'm such a good DJ!" Octavia shouted over the music.

"What I can't hear you over your bad taste in music!" Bethany yelled back at her. I turned the speaker up.

"Says you! I'm not the one who listens to country music!" She screamed louder, bringing Andrea, who is the only person in our year group that likes country music, into the argument.

"Country is great!" She fought as I turned the speaker up louder once again.

"No! It isn't!" Bethany began to yell louder. I turn the speaker once more.

"Can yous PLEASE STOP arguing! I'm going to go deaf at this rate!" Tyrin looked up from her phone and spoke passive-aggressively over the music and screaming.

"Stop pushing!" Octavia yelled as we all filled out of the van after the drive to the venue.

"Girls...  girls!" Mrs Wilton got our attention as we all stood in the carpark like a flock of sheep as busses from different schools arrive around us. "You need to go and sit in your groups over there," She said pointing at a row of old wooden and metal football stands, where teens of all kinds were sitting in groups. "The group you are in is on the lanyard I gave you all before we left school, I'll meet you all at the stands for lunch." She finished as everyone dispersed.

"Hey, Rwby! What group are you?" I ask as I nudge past people to get to her.

"8B... Yellow," She reads her lanyard and answers.

"Great! We're in the same group!" I tell her after reading my lanyard; we follow the flow of students, walking in front of the stands of groups.

"See any hot guys yet?" Rwby asks with a smirk.

"Um... Rwb we just got here, and you're already on the hunt?" I laugh.

"What! When you go to an all girls boarding school, you miss the eye candy." She pleads her case.

"Well, just make sure you keep everything in your pants ok!" I joke.

We find our group and start to walk up the small stands to sit at the top.

"Ouch!" Something hits my back and I fly forward hitting the stairs in front of me.

"Oh... Um, sorry!" A deep voice says as I roll over onto my back and see someone tall standing over me, offering their hand to help me up. I take it and stand up, once I gather my balance my head spin, and when I finally look up, I look into the most gorgeous, kind hazel eyes.
