The One That Got Away

Bea was Thirdy's TOTGA.

He just realized it now. It hit him hard as he was praying in Gesu before his final game in UAAP, game 2 of the championship against UP. All his memories from the past few years, especially all his memories with her came flooding back. "Bakit ngayon pa?" he whispered to himself. Tapos na dapat sila pero everything Thirdy felt during that one moment came back to him. His regret came back to him.

Flashback

Bea was waiting for Thirdy outside the locker room.

BEBOB won against their arch rivals and the team was going to celebrate their big win after. Girlfriends were invited. Bea, however, was not Thirdy's girlfriend. Lagi lang silang magkasama kaya invited din siya lagi sa team dinner nila.

"Bei! The boys are gonna take a while pa daw according to Matt. Do you wanna go with us? Mauuna na kami to order." Bianca, Matt's GF said to her. "I'll wait for Thirds nalang! Thanks Bianca!" she replied. The rest of the girls left na rin kasama ni Bianca.

Bea was used to waiting for Thirdy nalang all the time. Literally and figuratively. Lagi siyang napapagalitan nila Maki because "nagpapakatanga" daw siya waiting for Thirdy by doing so many things for him that he takes for granted or doesn't even make pansin. Even after every single game she would wait kahit gaano pa katagal e minsan nakakalimutan ni Thirdy na she was actually there waiting for him.

Today was again a repeat of that day.

Pagod na pagod na si Bea from everything that went on that entire week. And slowly, she started to realize that she hated how Thirdy treated her. But because of love, she still waited.

And waited.

And waited.

Hours passed and he still hasn't come out. Nagdecide siya to check up on him in the locker room. Pagbukas niya ng pinto, walang tao. Siya nalang mag-isa ang nasa locker room. Her heart broke. And she decided na this was the last straw.

Pumasok siya sa kotse niya at nagmaneho papunta sa restaurant kung saan nag-team dinner ang BEBOB. Andun nga si Thirdy. Laughing around with his teammates, eating, habang siya gutom na gutom na at pagod na pagod na nga, pero naghintay pa rin sa kanya.

She went outside of her car pero biglang umulab nang malakas so basang basa siya ng ulan habang tumatakbo papunta sa restaurant.

She opened the doors and everyone stared at her. "Thirds, sabi mo wala si Bea sa dugout?" Rhianna, Jolo's GF asked. Hindi siya nagrespond. Mabilis siyang tumayo ay pumunta agad kay Bea at nilagyan ng jacket.

"Bei, lalamigin ka. Bakit ka naman nagpabasa ng ulan?" tanong ni Thirdy. He was genuinely concerned, Bea realized. But the anger in her heart overpowered her logic. "Antagal tagal kitang inantay sa MOA tapos malalaman ko andito ka na pala? You didn't even look for me ganun? Hindi ka man lang nagtaka kung nasaan ako?" Thirdy was shocked with how angry she was. Hindi siya sanay. "Sorry babe, I honestly didn't know that you were there." he replied, scratching his nape. "Don't babe me, Ferdinand. Punong puno na ako." This confused Thirdy even more. Hindi niya maintindihan kung bakit galit si Bea. At ikinagalit pa lalo ito ni Bea. "Tangina! Hindi mo man lang nakikita lahat ng ginagawa ko para sayo? Kahit may clase akong maaga kinabukasan, I stay til the end of your games at inaantay pa kita sa dugout. Pero ilang beses mo na ako iniwanang naghihintay sayo. Ni isang beses ka nag-thank you sa lahat ng ginagawa ko para sayo. Just to support you, kinakalimutan ko lahat ng dapat gawin ko, lahat ng mga plano ko sa araw na iyon kinacancel ko para sayo, lahat ng taong hindi ko dapat kalimutan nakakalimutan ko. For you. Pero not once did I feel na na-appreicate mo lahat ng nagawa ko for you. Ang sakit, Thirdy. Alam mo yun? You say I'm important to you, pero hindi ko yun nararamdaman. You say you love me, pero naiiwanan mo ako mag-isa sa MOA? Hindi mo man lang ako hinanap. Not once, Thirds. Pagod na pagod na ako at hindi pa ako kumakain tapos makikita kong nag-eenjoy ka na at lahat pero di mo man lang alam kung nasaan ako?"

Thirdy was dumbfounded. "Bea, hindi ko maintindihan. Where did this all come from?" Pagod na si Bea. Napuno na siya. She replied, "Matagal ko na ito nararamdaman, Thirdy. Ngayon lang ako nagkaroon ng lakas ng loob para sabihin sayo." "Sorry Bei. Hindi ko talaga sinasad-" Bea interrupted him. "I'm going to stop you right there. Punong puno na ako sayo, Thirdy. I'm done. Ayoko na. Ayoko nang maging kaibigan mo." She said all of this looking him straight in the eye. You could Thirdy's heart break. "Wh-what?" "You heard me. Ayoko na. Itigil na natin ito." "Bea, wag kang magpadalos-dalos. Please pag-usapan na-" Thirdy tried to convince her. "I'm done Thirdy. Goodbye."

And she walked away.

End of Flashback

Yun yung huling pagkakataong nakausap ni Thirdy si Bea. Hanggang ngayon masakit pa rin. Kahit anong gawin niya, hindi talaga siya kinausap. He realized na kung may mahalaga sa iyong tao, make her feel that way. Pero alam niya na it was too late for him and Bea.

She was his TOTGA and masakit pala na wala siyang magawa to fix them.

Nakatanggap siya ng text from Jolo na aalis na sila. He sighed, stood up and walked towards the doors of Gesu, heart still aching from the pain that he recalled.

But he stopped. He could not believe his eyes.

She was standing right in front of him, looking exactly like how he remembered. She looked just as shocked as he was.

"Bea?"
