Chapter 7
The Lying Game
Adam's POV
I knew I hurt her when she left my office, I knew that I should've went after her. Really I could keep going with this but what's really the point? I messed up and now I have to make it right,
But what could I have done? Belle was adopted, those boys aren't mine in blood, and I'm the Alpha dealing with pack stuff. Last night I went to the hotel pack house, I got a suite and everything but it was odd.
I'm wearing the same clothes from 3 days ago, "Knock, Knock,"
"Come in,"
Jean walked in with her jeans and Minnie shirt on, "Hi I'm here on my lunch break I just wanted to know about seeing the Luna, I wasn't able to contact her through Heather this morning-"
"The Luna has taken a break,"
"Well if I was the Luna-"
"But your not Jean, you're not my Luna." I wasn't about to stand for Jean's games any longer. I was mad at everyone at the moment.
"Okay my bad, just tell her I really need to talk about my threapy lessons-" I put my hand up to stop her for a second. "Jean since you are a woman I need your advice on something, please sit down." I ordered and she muttered yes to herself and quickly sat down.
When I looked up she was staring right at me with a face of stone, giving me her un-divided attention. Really it was touching because lately I haven't been given that face by Sh'lera she would turn and look away, nod every once in a while.
"Alpha,"
I shake away from the thoughts and clear my throat, "How would you handle if your friend and your daughter kissed?"
"Well as long as it wasn't harmful,"
"It wasn't, she allowed him to kiss her. She was upset that she was caught," I said waving it off not really paying attention to it. She smirks a little before showing off her dazzling smile towards me.
"Like I said before as long as she's fine there's no drama,"
"Would you want a new desk, would you have quit your job?"
"No, and no."
Thank you! I knew Sh'lera was over reacting, "Unless there's something deeper I'm not willing to share, I mean having this happen might have been the trigger but it wasn't the build up. There might be some drama beneath what you know." She said folding her arms and leaning back, I gave it a thought.
What could be wrong? Was she un-happy? "Okay Alpha don't hurt yourself it was probably nothing, you did talk to Sh'lera right?" She asked tittling her head to the side. I didn't answer her, i just kept looking down at the files.
"Well I don't want to stay any longer Alpha, could I go now? My lunch break will be ending soon and I still want something to eat." She said getting up and waving me goodbye. I didn't wave back, I didn't say anything I just leaned back into my chair and closed my eyes.
Sh'lera's POV
"Mom are you okay?" All three of my kids poked their heads in, I laughed at the sight of their concerned faces. "Come in," And they all tripped over themselves to get into my room.
"No I go in first!...I'm a lady!....Yea right!"
They all fell upon my floor in a pile, Belle got up first. "Mom are you sure you're alright? You haven't left for work and-"
"I'm taking a well deverved break."
"Was it because of me?" Belle inquired I saw the un-easy look between Blake and Damien. They must've already knew and supported her through that sibling talk. "No it's more than you."
"Do you want us to make you anything?" She suggested, "Talk to Aunt Roxy!" Blake blurted out, And we all looked at Damien, "I don't have anything-oh wait-yea nothing." He said sitting back on the floor.
"Well Damien you can give me a hug!" I ordered and then they all jumped on the bed and tackled me. As much as it did hurt it was the most amazing and real thing I felt in a long time. "Now boys go and play your video games I need to talk to Belle alone,"
When they were gone she was still sitting on the edge of the bed, I grabbed her hands and looked her in the eyes. "Belle you do rememeber being adopted right?" She nods,
"And you know it doesn't matter you are still apart of this family right?" She nods again,
"Promise me you will never forget it..." I start, "Promise me no matter who says what you, Isabelle is my daughter."
"I promise mama," She said wiping away a stray tear, I pulled her into a hug while she let some tears out. "I love you,"
"I love you too Belle,"
Later that same day...
I stayed in bed, Roxy was the only one who could come over. Jess said she had some issues with Noah to work out. By that staement I don't think he proposed and I don't think their relationship will be getting better.
Roxy peeking her head in, I wiped my eyes and clutched the thick sheets a little closer.
"The kids told me you were in bed but I didn't believe them, not for 3 days." She joked walking in removing her jacket, shoes, and purse. "You already know most of what went down between Adam and I right?" I asked staring at the ceiling.
"No tell me,"
"I rather just show you the memories," I whispered holding out my hand, she reached out and took hold. I concentrated on the situation from Xavier coming in last night, to Belle the next morning, then to Adam where I vented and he vented a little more.
"Wow," Roxy breathed, she climbed in bed next to me, "So Adam really messed you up with that line huh?"
"It's not even about that line anymore,"
"Then what?" I released the lip I had in between my teeth, my arms fall from the folded stance they were in. "I lied when he asked if I was ever willing to have another child. I'm not,"
