Anyia's POV
While waiting for Blake to arrive mom went to go make some sandwiches since Corrine and I were complaining that we were hungry. We stayed up in my room talking about random memories that we had here. We talked about the first time that she had come over and how we hid under the bed when her mom came to get her. We talked about getting ready for homecoming the last three years here with Gianna. We talked about getting ready for the eighth grade dance with Blake and how that was the only time he wasn't harassing me. We talked about how that was the last time Blake had been in my room. We talked about absolutely everything.
Suddenly we heard talking downstairs which meant that Blake was here and was talking with my mom. Suddenly the talking stopped and footsteps began. There was only one pair of footsteps which most likely meant Blake was on his way up by himself.
"Hey there sis and friend," he says whilst strolling into my room. "Guess I gotta take this bed apart since you girls can't figure it out." I rolled my eyes at him and got up and started towards the door to help my mom bring up the sandwiches.
As I got to the door I heard Corrine say my name. "You stay here and help. I'll go help your mom. It is your bed anyway." I knew there was no sense in fighting her. She always won. Always. Sighing I walk over and stand in front of Blake with my arms crossed.
"I guess we should get started. Nyia, hold this pole while I unscrew it from the base." Blake starts while pointing to the pole he was talking about. Being me I walk over to the one across from that one and hold that one.
I can sense the anger in him but he doesn't say anything.
15 minutes later
"Alright kiddos take a break and eat." My mom says while passing both Blake and I paper plates with sandwiches and chips. Blake and I had three of the poles off of the base so we were perfectly fine with taking a break.
We all sat down in a circle on my bed. Blake was to my right, Corrine to my left and my mom sat across from me. We all joked around while we ate and for once in my life since knowing Blake he wasn't trying to make my life hell. He was being nice to me and that was shocking.
Within 15 minutes we all finished out plates and got back to work. It took another half hour to get the bed completely apart. Mom and Corrine decided that they would bring everything down to the truck while Blake and I took the bed apart. It worked pretty good.
"Niya, wanna help me carry down the headboard while your mom makes sure everything is out of the house?" Blake asks after Corrine walked to the bathroom and my mom left to go walk through the house one last time. I agreed for some reason and we carried the headboard down the stairs and towards the truck.
When my mom yelled out that we could close the truck I looked up to find the handle. Much to our luck it was all the way at the top of the truck. Blake tried to reach it since we both knew I couldn't but he still fell short.
Feeling defeated I went and sat on the hood of Blake's mustang since I couldn't reach the hood of my Jeep. Usually Blake yells at me for doing this but for once he didn't. He was standing behind the truck staring at the handle trying to figure out how to reach it.
Suddenly I hear his yell, "I got it. Nyia come here!"
I hop off the hood and walk towards him weary of his idea. "You might hate this but it's the only way. Get on my shoulders."
Looking at him as if he has lost his mind I shake my head and back away. "Oh hell no. I do not under any circumstances trust you with my life."Suddenly my mom bursts out the front door asking why we haven't gotten the thing closed and why we have been arguing for ten minutes. Blake begins to tell her his plan while I sit on the hood of his car looking terrified. Of course my mother would think it is an amazing idea and tells me I need to cooperate so that we can leave.
The next five minutes are spent with Blake and I trying to figure out how to keep steady and grab the handle and pull it down without it flying back up. When we finally understand how we need to do it we somehow succeed.
Blake slowly squats down so that I can get off. I can honestly say getting off was a lot easier than getting on him. When I am steady being on my legs again I head towards the house to let mom know that the truck is ready to go. But before I can Blake grabs my arm spinning me back around.
"Hey, I'm gonna head back to my house. I'll come out to help you guys once you get there." He states with no expression. I nod in response and turn to walk away. I hear him quietly start talking again and decide to make sure I listen. "I know you haven't read my text. You probably should before tonight."
With that I head towards the house faster and I hear a door slam and the engine start on his car. I have no clue what he meant by I probably should before tonight but I am going to find out.
"Mom! The truck is closed we can go!" I yell throughout the house. Her and Corrine come into the foyer from the living room. Corrine is holding my purse, keys and phone while my mom has her purse and the keys to the truck. She already brought her car over to the house when she went to go get the moving truck so that is out of the way.
Corrine leads the way to the vehicles while I take one last look at the house I spent my whole life in. Thinking about it I know that I will be coming back occasionally but it will never be the same. I will always know that it is no longer my home. That it is now just a place that I go to visit my dad on weekends when he isn't away on business trips.
With the final look at the house I put my jeep in reverse and follow my mom towards the house that will become my home. The house right next door to my best friend and the schools resident bad boy.
