She doesn't remember ever having a last name. Her friends don't have last names either, or at least, she thinks so. Most don't, so it doesn't bother her. She has met someone with a last name though. It was strange to her, having two separate names, but she was intrigued. "What is your last name then?" she leans into his face as best as she can, with unblinking eyes, "Well... my last name is Lombardi." He pauses, staring down at this odd girl. "It's Italian." She still wonders what he meant by 'Italian'. All well, maybe she'll never know. But then again, she could've sworn she's heard the word before. She reaches up to scratch her head, then realizes she's being left behind! She engages in an awkward half-jog to catch up. They've been walking along a small path, away from everyone. Her friend is leading them along, while she still lags behind. They wander in silence; the only thing to hear is the rocks crunching beneath their feet. The middle of the pack listens carefully to them. Suddenly, the lead stops in her tracks, causing the other two friends to come to a halt. She turns, holding a gray device with two antennas spiraling wildly out of the top, like a remote of some sort. But it wasn't a remote, because remotes control things, and what they are looking for cannot be controlled. By them, at least. "Ladies..." the lead points to the other side of three large stones, smirking, "... we've made it." Various 'yeas' and 'whoops' erupt from the group. The middle speaks up, "C'mon, let's watch." They waltz over to the stones, and crouch, waiting. The air is tense, they hope they've anticipated this correctly. The lead glances at her small gadget. Just a few more seconds. Pebbles begin to lift off of the ground, by about an inch, vibrating. She rips herself away from the device. A low hum rings in their ears; it's time. In an instant, the humming stops, pebbles drop, and a flash of light on the ground appears, as it materializes. A supposed tear. They're all on their feet instantly, eyes lost in it's swirling wonder. Most call them Interdimensional Puddles, and those who use them, Puddle Jumpers. And these three are ready to dip their feet in. "Where's the bag?" the caboose and the lead aren't listening. "ASHLEY!" the lead whips her head around, "Oh! Right!" Ashley bends down and reveals a dark green duffle bag from behind her. "Alright ladies, I'll be going now," she motions toward the Puddle, "care to join me?" The middle nervously peaks at the caboose, but she's beaming right at the Puddle. They nod, Ashley nods back. She then sticks her foot out, testing the non-existent water of the Puddle. She then plugs her nose and steps, plunging into the depths below. The caboose strides over to it, then she remembers her timid friend, the middle. She looks back, "You can hold my hand if you'd like." She reaches her one hand out, wearing a soft smile. The middle hesitates, then accepts the offer. She looks up at the caboose, who's gazing into the Puddle, "Patty... why are we doing this again?" Patty replies, looking her friend right into her large, round eyes, "For fun, Andrea. For fun." And with that, they leap into the glowing abyss.
