Chapter 12 (Adore you)

When the very last bell rang to dismiss us students to go home, I walked over to my locker and was very surprised when I found Shawn leaning on it, tapping on his phone, waiting for me. I walked up to him and snatched his phone away.

"Hey!" he laughed looking up.

I smiled and held his phone above my head which was useless since I was shorter than him by a foot. Shawn laughed at my failed attempt to keep it out of his reach, and grabbed his phone out of my hands.

"So what are you doing in front of my locker?" I asked leaning on the locker beside mine, facing Shawn.

"I wanted to know if I could walk home with you today since I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time with you today."

"Your house is like 30 blocks away from mine, we don't even pass your house on the way." I laughed.

He shrugged and smiled as if to say "doesn't matter, I'm gonna do it anyways." I gently push him away from my locker and put in my locker combo. When I opened it, a folded up piece of paper fell out and it landed at Shawn's feet. He picked it up curiously and looked at me with a questioning look. I shrugged and reached out to take the paper out of his hands but he lifted out of my reach and unfolded it. I watched as his eyes moved from left and right as he read the note. From time to time he would cringe and narrow his eyebrows. I was starting to wonder if I even wanted to read it after he was finished. When he finished, he crumpled up the note so hard, I'm surprised he didn't cut himself. He started to breath quickly and deeply, and pressed his lips into a thin line. He mumbled something that I couldn't hear but before I could ask, he stomped off to some where. What the hell was in that note? I ran after him but stopped in my tracks when I realized where he was heading. We were outside of the school and standing in front of Katie's sister's car, where Katie was standing. When I saw Shawn lift his foot to step towards her, I reached out and grabbed his hand from behind.

"Please don't do something that will get you in trouble" I pleaded into his ear, but he looked at me and said

"I don't care, she can't get away with this bull crap anymore" before he stepped towards her. I let my other hand and grabbed his shoulder to hold him back while pleading

"Shawn-"

but he shrugged me off and walked right up to Katie, no hesitation at all. Katie must have heard him coming because she turned away from her sister and smiled at him, but that smile was soon wiped away when Shawn pushed her up against the car door.

"WHAT THE HELL HAS MELISSA EVERY DONE TO YOU TO DESERVE THIS KIND OF CRAP?! ALL SHE'S EVER DONE IS CHASE AFTER HER DREAMS AND BE NICE TO YOU. AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HER? YOU'VE PUT HER DOWN, YOU TOLD HER THAT SHE WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO BE A MUSICIAN, YOU REFUSED TO LISTEN TO HER MUSIC THAT SHE WROTE HERSELF! I HONESTLY HAVE NO IDEA WHY YOU DISLIKE HER THIS MUCH WHEN IN RETROSPECT, YOU'RE THE ONE WHO DESERVES ALL THIS CRAP, NOT HER! AND DON'T EVEN TRY TO BRING ME INTO YOU'RE TWISTED LITTLE PLAN TO HURT HER. I CARE ABOUT HER AND I WILL ALWAYS BE THERE TO CATCH HER WHEN SHE FALLS. THAT'S WHAT FRIENDSHIP IS, WHICH IS SOMETHING THAT YOU WOULD KNOW IF YOU WEREN'T SUCH A FEMALE DOG! HONESTLY, IF YOU LAY EVEN A FINGER ON HER, YOU'LL WISH THAT YOU NEVER EVEN EXISTED." he spat at her before releasing her and walking away as if nothing ever happened (completely ignoring Katie's older sister yelling at him).

I was still dazed when he walked up to me. Watching him stand up for me just made me fall in love with him more. Made me want to jump into his arms and stay there forever. Made me want to run off somewhere with him into the sunset. Made me want to kiss his lips without caring about who sees us. When he walked up to me, I immediately pulled him into a suffocating bear hug. I could feel him start to relax when he was in my arms.

"I wish there were other words aside from thank you right now." I whispered. He lightly chuckled and he assured that it wasn't a big deal.

"oh quit being so modest Mendes. I don't know anybody who would stand up for me like that. I just want you to know that, I would do the same for you. I would stand up to some jerk for you, I will always have your back, I will always care about you-" I started to tear up before I could finish my sentence. Shawn looked me in the eyes and smiled lovingly and used his thumb to wipe away my tears while I was still in his arms. We were so close to each other that if I leaned in any closer then we would be kissing. He rested my head on my shoulder and rubbed my small circles in my back. 

I have no idea what I would do without him.

Hey guys! I don't know why but when I was writing what Melissa says to Shawn after he schools Katie, "adore you" by Miley Cyrus started to play in my head. So, I'll put the lyric video in here. Uhh, I don't know what to say now so umm yeah, guess that's it.
