Where am I? Why can't I move? I know I have to run, but I don't know why. Am I in danger, or am I just scared? My body ached and my skin burned. Where am I? Who am I?
I woke up with a bright light shining through my eye lids. I didn't know where I was. I tilted my head towards the harsh light and saw a purple and white vase with bright coloured roses all neatly packed into the vase. The roses were all types of colours. There was blood red, sea blue and milky pink, my favourite colour. Underneath the roses, a letter was placed on a side table tied up with a silky red bow. Draped over the letter was a golden heart charm necklace. I smiled. I don't know why, but just looking at the golden heart made me happy. I tilted my head to the other side of the room to see a tall blue door that was tightly shut. In the middle of the blue door were three numbers 786. Instantly I knew it was a hotel of some sort. But who puts their room number on the inside of the door. What? Are they going to forget their room number and need a consent reminder? Without realising it, I was staring out into space with my mind wandering off.
The squeakiness of a door handle being rotated snapped me out of my day dream. By the sound of the squeaks they needed a new door handle...Whoever 'they' are.
A nurse with golden blonde hair and sea blue eyes walked into my room. She wore a white nurse outfit with a red cross on the top of her left chest. She carried a notepad and a pen that hanged on a piece of string. She smiled as she approached me. "Hi Rose, I'm Scarlett I'll be your nurse until you get better. Now can you tell me how you feel? Are you dizzy or Nourishes?" Her voice was sweet and smooth, like freshly melted chocolate poured onto hot fudge.
"No, I'm fine, just a little weak and sore, like I've been hit by a bus."
Scarlett chuckled. "Yeah, well you would for a couples of days."
I smiled weakly. "How long have I been out for?"
Her smile faded into a serious yet sympathetic look. "You've been in Acoma for almost five months."
I wanted to scream out 'What?!' but I was too weak, so I just replied with. "Have I really been out for five months." She nodded.
"We were about to turn your life-support off until about a month ago we saw some improvements. Your injuries were so horrible we were surprised you pushed through." I let that sink in. What happened to me that could make me be in Acoma for five months?
"What happened?" I asked hoping she will tell me straight away and not beat it around the bush.
"You were in a car accident five months ago. I'm sorry to tell you this but..." She hesitated. "Your father, Richard King, died in the car accident." I knew I should feel sad and ball out into tears, but I just couldn't. I know I should, but I just can't remember him. I can't remember what he looked like, his laugh, his voice and now I will never get the chance to. "Also, your sister has been missing for five months, we believe she's dead." My heart shattered. Well at least I felt something brake. I can't remember my family, but I could feel like I loved them from the moon and back. "I'm so sorry for your loss Rose." I took a deep breath.
"And my mother? What happened to her."
She hesitated. "Rose, your mother left you when you were five, nobody has heard any word from her since." That's it, I have no family. No one to care for me, no one to pick me up when I fall. That's it, I was a lone fish in the great big sea. "I'm sorry for being pushy, but can you remember anything, anything at all?" Scarlett asked as if it were life or death.
"No, sorry, I can't remember anything, just blurs of a of fire and a wreckage."
"That's it," She jumped. "focus on the blurs."
