I stayed in my room, with the exception of dinner, all the way to Niagra Falls. I didn't feel like I had a choice. I had decided that I wasn't going to Canada, but to New York City to get lost in the five million plus population. Unsure of what I had to face, I wanted to be off to myself, get in the mindset I needed. This was when everything got real. I didn't have any contacts in New York, so I was truly on my own.

I stood looking at my luggage. Uncle Jesse bought me stuff that only worked on the cruise, and I didn't have the heart to tell him that I probably couldn't keep it if it didn't fit in my backpack or saddlebags. It was pretty nice stuff, so maybe I could sell it. Dad always said everything has a purpose; I had to remember that. I also had a wad of cash I had to make last. Luckily, I hadn't touched a lot of it by calling in favors, and I was happy that was the case. I had three thousand dollars in a sanitary napkin package, another three in the lining of my backpack, and finally, a grand in my pockets and shoes. I had to relax about that. Nobody thinks someone would carry that kind of cash.

I went down to ship's storage and walked my bike out.

"So this is it," Uncle Jesse sighed.

"I'm just taking the bike out--"

"With your full saddlebags and backpack?" he raised his eyebrows at me. "Listen, just be careful and don't lose my number. I think I know where you're headed, but I don't want confirmation." He pulled me into a bear hug, and I hugged him back. He stroked my hair. "You are strong, sweet and trained. You're gonna do fine...but if you need help--" He pulled out a cell phone. "Only one number is on it and this phone number is only connected to you. If you need help of any kind, you let me know."

I nodded yes. I was really going to miss him. "I'll be in touch--"

"Only to the post office box, okay, the one in Canada I gave you."

I nodded quickly, understanding. If one of us had an address out of the country, it was harder to track. I made a mental note to go to downtown Manhattan for every mailing so it would be harder to trace.

"Are you even going to check out the Falls?"

"Of course," I said with a grin. "Kind of a bucket list thing." I reached up and kissed his cheek. "Later, Uncle."

"Remember we set sail at midnight!" he called after me.

I turned back to smile, appreciating his covering my leave. "Thanks!"

I took off and headed for the parking area to put my bike away. i slipped a security guy $100 to let me park my bike by the station. I didn't know when I'd come back here, so it'd best see what I can see.

It was quite a view from the Bridal Veil Falls. I couldn't help but notice the trees or bushes that looked like a wolf to me and laughed, a reminder of the wolf I met a week ago. I threw back the hood of my raincoat, and sniffed the air...

Wait a minute! I could feel something different. Again, my knees were weak. And there was a scent in the air, one I couldn't quite put my finger on... My gaze traveled down the walkways finding four men in bottom, talking and not looking at the wonders before them, or climbing up or down.

"Kyros." I whispered.

One of them looked up.

I gasped and moved quickly, throwing up my hood and hoping that I could blend in.

*********

"Excuse me!"

"Coming through!"

I couldn't move fast enough. She really was full of surprises.

"You sure she isn't a full blood?!" Gordon huffed. "She's moving fast!"

"She's light on her feet!" I breathed taking steps at a time that wasn't natural, but I knew no one would notice. "Move!"

We were running fast, but she was like a deer. She was covering ground as fast as a full blood, and stayed along the road in the woods so no one would see her. I stopped and watched her, smiling. She was...really something.

"Alpha?!"

"Go, go!"

We had to slow our pace. She was fitting through brush we were much too big for, and if we knocked down small brush and trees it would draw too much attention.

Finally she got to the Three Sisters Island bridge. She ran to the islands.

"One way on, one way off!" I was relieved. I was really getting a run for my money.  We crossed the first bridge, and I stopped them. "One stays here. The rest of us can split up."
