I just wanted to thank you guys for getting this book to 1k reads! I didn't think this would happen so fast after I reposted but thank you so much ❤️‼️

A couple of days have passed since I had last seen Saya. I'm just too ashamed to face her.

I mean, I did run out of her house without any words and made no effort trying to talk with her after the fact. That's quite the dick move considering all she's done for me in the short time of knowing her.

Arriving at school relatively early, I waited anxiously in my car for the doors to open. I reminisced the events of the last week. I'm so grateful I wasn't kicked off the football team. Coach just had me and the other boys involved in the fight suspended from three games as well as school.

I know for a fact if coach wasn't trying to lose of undefeated streak he would have kicked us all off of the team. All the boys involved in the fight including myself, get significant playing time, so removing us from the team or keeping us from playing for too long would be too much of a risk.

This kind of made me happy, but at the same time it was kind of unfair. If it were to be any other player that didn't get as much playtime or bring up the score as much, they would have for sure been kicked off the team.

I mean if I'm being honest, I'm not concerned by this punishment, yes I love football and I enjoy playing, but leaving the toxic energy of the football team is like a breath of fresh air. I now know that I have to watch my back more than ever, seeing as though I have newfound enemies.

Today is also my first day back from being suspended for that or should I say those fights the other day. I feel a little confident heading into school this morning. I mean, I did give Brett a bloody nose with one hit.

I feel kinda badass. Now I know that I can take Kaleb when I need to and that makes me feel slightly better.

Kaleb and Brett aren't even friends as far as I know. I think Kaleb found the whole situation another way of putting his hands on me after what happened in the bathroom.

Looking down at my phone I noticed that the doors were getting ready to open in two minutes so, I exited my car and made my way to the front of the building.

The walk from my car to the building was awful, people were staring in my direction. I'm so used to the isolation and being overlooked, this new feeling is appalling.

The school is really big. With large schools comes many students and with the number of students they have, they have to account for the student drivers. The parking lot at the school could be challenged with a small mall.

At this point, they should split this school into two because it's crazy how huge it is. I walked into the front doors with my head hung, the confidence in my body draining as I made my way to my locker.

People stared as I walked, their voices wavering, but returning to normal as I moved past them. Through it all, I tried to keep my eyes on the ground and look as neutral as I could. I already memorized the way to my locker without looking, so bumping into things would not be a problem for me.

I looked up when I reached the hall where my locker was, at this point the walkway was near vacant as people were beginning to enter classrooms. I stumbled a bit, seeing a figure standing in front of my locker. Their back was facing me, but with further inspection, I could tell who it was.

"Saya?" I almost whispered. Her body twisted to meet me as a smile plastered across her face.

"Yayyy! You're back," she ran to me engulfing me in a hug. I lost my footing a little as she did this. "Do you understand how boring it is when you aren't here?"

I felt a faint smile formed on my face, she didn't look like she was angry. She continued to ramble on about how draining school back while I was gone.

"You aren't mad at me?" I questioned.

She stopped her ranting and looked at me quizzically.

"Mad at you? Why would I be mad at you?"

"I mean, I ran out of your house all wild and I didn't try and text you or anything. So I thought maybe you would be upset,"

"Um no," she giggled slightly before continuing, "but since we're on the topic, why did you run out that day?"

A blush crept up my cheeks, I moved around her and all but ripped my locker open. God, I'm so awkward. I know she's doing this on purpose too, she knows exactly why I ran. I grabbed everything I needed and returned back to her small form.

She stood with a challenging smirk on her face, " You know, there was no reason for you to leave that day," my eyes moved everywhere, but where she stood. She crept closer to me and rose to the tips of her toes reaching my ear, "I got a glimpse what you have down there, and it's definitely nothing to be self-conscious about."

Without another word she turned and left. The five-minute bell rang seconds later, my breath caught in my throat at her statement.

"Damn," I whispered under my breath. I started on my way to my class thinking over the quick interaction.

That girl is gonna be the death of me.
