The next morning, Minho woke her up before the sun rose.

He said she needed to see what was out there, since she'd never seen a griever before, only what has happened to gladers if they got to close.

Minho took her to a mossy window and what she saw she would never forget.

The griever was about as big as a cow and looked like a giant slug.

It had weird mechanical arms coming out of random places on its body.

The thing was absolutely hideous.

After that, Minho took her to a shed and gave her all the things she needed.

She got shoes, a bag, a watch, and even special underwear he called 'runnie undies.'

She got two sharp knives to keep with her incase she ran into a griever, even though she'd be with Minho.

He took her to the kitchen and they both packed lunches for the day out in the maze.

Thomas and the others were there too.

They all waited in a cluster by the north gate and waited for the doors to open.

"You're in the big leagues now, Greenie." Minho had said to her.

As the doors were almost ready to open, Bree felt a hand on her shoulder and she turned around.

Newt was standing there with a look of sympathy on his face.

"Be careful out there, okay?" He said.

Bree nodded.

"I will." She replied.

Minho turned to them. "Don't sorry, Newtie. I'll have your girlfriend back without a scratch okay?"

Newt rolled his eyes. "She's not my bloody girlfriend, Minho."

Minho smirked. "Whatever you say."

After the doors were open, they set off into the maze.

Taking that first step out of the glade made Bree feel relieved. She didn't know why, but it just felt right.

Bree glanced back to see Newt looking at her with his arms crossed.

She gave him a small wave and turned back to make sure she was still behind Minho.

The pair ran farther into the maze, turning corner after corner, running down long corridor after corridor.

It seemed to Bree that Minho knew the route by heart, taking every twist and turn with ease.

She watched as he took out his knife and cut some vines along the wall while running. Probably to mark their spot in case they actually got lost.

They didn't talk. It saved energy and they could talk and go over things when they stopped for lunch.

After a few hours of running, Bree was feeling the burn.

Her muscles were starting to get sore and she was breathing hard.

Finally, Minho let them stop for lunch.

She was starving.

Bree sat down and leaned against the large stone wall.

She took a sandwich out of her bag and began eating.

"We only have a few turns left till we have to go back." Minho said.

"Okay." Bree replied with a mouthful of sandwich.
