Chapter Zero- Little Girl
The blood poured out of the corpse and filled the crevices along the stones. The blood slowly expanded its puddled around the body until it came to surround the girls little violet converse. Black lightning snapped around the girl in response to her screams. The stone pathway meant nothing to the growing force as the roots surged forth to encompass the body. When the body was no longer visible, the roots stretched upwards to the sky. Within seconds the roots had come together to form the large tree.
The girl stood in the puddle of blood, staring at the spot where her mother had been. She knew that somehow her mother lived on in the tree. The thought was bizarre, crazy even, the tree should have scared her. Instead all she could find was comfort through the blooming pomegranate tree.
The little girl could hear footsteps coming down the path, yet she continued to stare. A voice started calling out for her, worry laced his shouts. When he finally found the girl he was confused where his wife went, but protecting his daughter was his highest priority- it's what his wife would have wanted. He could feel the power radiating around the girl and could feel it slowly ebb away as he brought her into a hug. Just like his daughter, He also could feel that somehow Victoria, his wifes essence, was in that tree. With every blossom he saw, he was reminded of her beauty. As the gentle winds blew through the branches, he was reminded of his wifes gentle nature.
All remnants of the fierce power cleared away as he picked up his daughter in his arms. Both the little girl and her father made a vow to protect what remained of their cherished family member. What remained of Victorias spirit, the spirit of a loving mother and wife, also vowed to protect her family with the second chance she had been given.
One of the blossoms turned into a pomegranate one week later and was eaten by the little girl. Along with the pomegranate, came the girls first vision.
