Why did it feel weird to be alone in a car with him? Was I behaving like it felt weird? Did he think it was as awkward as I did? "You smell nice, too", I responded, blindsided by his compliment. He didn't have a particular scent, it was just some manly showergel or deodorant. "Well yeah, I showered for a change", he joked as we drove on to the apartment complex I live in. It had rained that day and the street reflected some neon lights. "Are you hungry?", he asked all of a sudden. "I could eat. Let's get some McDonald's", I suggested, drawing something on the dew of my window with my finger. "McDonald's? Really?", he asked and gave me a disapproving look. "What? I eat junk-fod way too often. Luckily, my genes keep me skinny", I responded. "Nooo, it's not about that. Burger King's just waaay better", he said. We had a short debate about it, and ended up driving through both drive-thrus and getting way too much food. Five Minutes later we arrived at my apartment complex. "Do you wanna come up?", I offered, "your food's gonna be cold once you've arrived home."
There was no point in arguing with that, so we found a parking spot and climbed up the seemingly endless steps. "Girl, you're killing me", Noah gasped, trying to catch up to my speed. "Come on, it's a good excersise for your tushie", I said, turning around to him. I caught him getting a short glimpse at my butt and giving it an approving nod. I turned back around quickly, hoping that he didn't see that I saw him checking me out. "Not that you need it", I added, as we finally arrived in front of my door.
As I was opening the door, Noah interrupted me. "Wait, wait. I have to mentally prepare for it", he said. "Why?", I asked, as I slowly turned the key in the doorlock. "Well I think, if you see how someone lives, you get to know a great deal about them. You get a look behind the scenes. That's why I never say no to an invite home", he responded with excitement in his voice. "Plus, most of those invites are probably from girls, right?", I said and opened the door.
I let Noah step in first. He immediatly took off his shoes, without even asking if he should. His momma raised him well.
