~ Clarence ~
Suddenly I felt the mood grew denser making the atmosphere awkward.
“Hooray?” That was all I was able to squeak out. Everything just felt so… weird.
I looked at Katie. She now looked like a vampire you know just… white.
Did I overreact or something?? UURRGG I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY!
“I know what you are thinking. No I did not know this before, I found out this morning.”
“But h-how are you related?!”
“Long story. Why don’t we talk about it over lunch? I’ll pay.”
We dropped of our surfboards next to the van, knowing that the boy’s would realize that they are our’s, and headed for Katie’s favourite café.
The café was packed but we still managed to find a seat for two.
“Spill”
She sighed and then started to explain, “Okay so a few years ago my parents split and my dad went off to marry someone else while my mum stayed a single workaholic. The person who my dad happened to marry already had a son from her previous marriage, and that happened to be Jason so yeah..”
I was just silent. Like I did not expect this.
I guess Katie sensed the awkward mood so she decided to change the topic…slighty.
“Talking about Jason, how is your relationship with him now.”
I grinned at the thought of Jason.
“Yea we went out for lunch followed by some fun at the beach yesterday. It was so much fun I wish I could just replay it all over again..” I realized that I was talking to much and so I shut up. I really love Jason. He is just perfect.
Katie smiled. Not just an ordinary smile, but a smile of thankfulness and sincerity. “I’m glad. To tell the truth, I really thought that he wouldn’t like you.”
Now I’m confused. “Why wouldn’t he like you?”
Katie must’ve of realized what she had said because shock went across her face. “No, I mean Tristram and Jason were just really strong rivals, nothing else.”
I was relieved.
The waitress came to our table and asked for what we were ordering. The lady looked like she was 30 and sick of working at this café. You could see how bored and sick she was of having to wait for people. After noticing this, we decided to order the first thing we saw in which we soon laughed at because it ended up being some sort of salad (note to self: check what you are ordering before order it).
