"(y/n), Wake up!" you hear Noya whispered in your ear. You sat up immediately. "Nice of you to join us, (l/n)" The teacher said a little too loudly for comfort, not stopping his writing on the board. You push back your hair and pick up your pencil from the floor. Your notebook is already open, left where you drifted off to sleep. Noya hadn't really had real notes in his notebook so looking off of him would be useless. Your yawn creeped out of your mouth that you hid behind our hand. It was close to the end of the day. So close.
(Later that night)
It was a chilly night, something you weren't expecting. Of course. Why would the world work your way? With no jacket you walk into the Nekoma gym. A volleyball game, only going to cheer on the small #4 Libero. He was your only friend, besides Hiroko, who was more like an annoying sister you've known since Junior High. Hiroko ran up from behind, "(y/n) waaaaaait!" She yelled. "I thought you were feeling sick?" Hiroko caught her breath while you looked down at her. "I'm ok now. Ready?" You two walk into the cold gym. "Really?!" you swear under your breath. The team warmed up as you sit on the small bleachers in one section on the floor. Not many people were her. The Manager, someone you have known forever, Kiyoko, smiled at you two. She walked over. "Hello (y/n) and Hiroko." "Hey Kiyoko." You both say in unison. Kiyoko went to the same elementary and junior high as you did, not to mention she was also your next door neighbor. The whistle blows and Kiyoko wave you goodbye. She was always so nice. The game starts, that #10 and #9 were at it again with that special quick. "Hey, watch out for #3, his name is Azumane Asahi. Third-year ace heard he is a tough guy and a troublemaker." You laugh at that. You didn't know the guy and Noya barely mentions him. He doesn't look so mean or scary. "Ah! My mom is gonna flip if I'm not home. I forgot family is coming over! Sorry, (y/n) Byeeeee!" You wave Hiroko goodbye and sit alone shivering in the cold gym. After a few more points scored the #3 Asahi comes running over. Your shocked at first because a gut feeling told you he was running to you. He was. When he reached you he held out his jacket. You were slightly confused. "Sorry, I'm Azumane Asahi, I am a friend of Nishinoya's and you looked cold, so here." You took the jacket after you noticed Noya giving you a thumbs up and a smile in the corner of your eye. It was weird putting a random stranger's jacket on but he was a student at Karasuno, a third year even, and you were getting pretty cold. The jacket was big on you, but it was very warm. It smelled really nice for being worn by a sweaty volleyball player for so long. The smell reminded you of the outdoors, you don't know why. The ball was set to Asahi when he was back row. His hit had some much power and precision that watching it was mesmerizing. No one on Nekoma got his ball. He was amazing. The first set was over, Nekoma winning by two points. Now you saw the faces of Karasuno instead of the backs of them. After a few plays Karasuno took #9 and #10 out and let #2, Suga, be the setter. As interesting as the two first years are, Suga has amazing skills. The ball is set to Asahi, he powers the ball down to the right corner on the line. Nekoma loses the point but the ball was hit so hard it bounced up to your bleachers. Wait, where did it go? You look slightly up as the ball soars right at you very fast. You weren't quick enough to get your hands out before the ball hit you. It knocked you back and your back hit the bleacher seat above you. All the pain all of a sudden made the room get dark. You could hear yelling but it was distant. The room started to spill as the bleachers shook as someone jumped on them. A body appeared before you, bigger than Noya. You squint and start to come to as you notice it's Asahi. "I'm so sorry!" He pleaded. "No... it's fine... I lost sight of the ball." His eyes looked so hurt. His cheeks were bright red and his hair was falling out of the low bun. He looked tired, and you felt bad. An urge told you to offer him water, but you didn't know the guy. Noya came running up with ice, it occurred to you that he wasn't the one who came to you first. How rude. But he brought you the ice and sat next to you as Asahi awkwardly stands up and goes back down to the team. "Are you ok, (y/n)?" Noya said. He actually sounded sincere. You nod as you can't seem to speak. Maybe you just got hit in the head to hard, or the way Asahi looked at you kept you speechless.
