Colby Salvatore was never the type the follow the rules or stay out of trouble, and on top of that she came from a long line of very powerful witches. Colby and her family never stayed in one place very long, mainly due to the fact they were powerful, and with power comes enemies, and the family had many.

So when the Salvatore parents tell their children they have found a permanent place to live the young witches are in shock yet excited to finally have a place to call home. But just like anywhere else there was always going to be an enemy waiting for them. Unfortunalty the enemies they had in Forks, Washington was no enemy to Colby, family history didn't create enemies for Colby, to her, that was the past. But her mother and older sister didn't see things Colby's way, and they sure as hell didn't like the fact the Cullens weaseled their way into Colby's life.

And they sure as hell aren't going to like the fact that Colby falls for the teddy bear that is Emmett Cullen. Vampires and witches were natural enemies, they had a forbidden love upon them. But Colby was never the type to follow the rules or play it safe.
