A series of roars and cheers spread through the crowd. Ricky looked around surprised. He had no idea which side they were cheering for until Opal whipped around to turn to him with a huge smile on her face. She threw her racket up in the air from excitement.
"Ricky! You did it! We won!" she said as she ran over to him to help him get up.
The second he was on his feet Opal wrapped her arms around his torso and hugged him tightly. Ricky was shocked by her sudden action and looked around confused and nervous, like he didn't know what to do. Then, Opal pulled away and took his wrists and started jumping up and down.
"That last play was INSANE! I'm so glad we became partners for this!" she exclaimed.
Ricky smiled and slipped his hands into is her own as she bounced.
"Me too."
Jack, Oliver, Sam, and Honey all came into the court while they celebrated. Oliver and Sam were screaming while they rushed to go see them and talk about the game with them. Sam crutched over to him and yelled, "EVERY ONE BOW DOWN TO THE MASTER!" While everyone else laughed, Ricky stood there with his eyebrows scrunched since he was the only one who didn't understand what Sam was referring to.
Now, since the six of them were finally finished with all of their events, they had been planning to watch the rest of the events together to support their teams and then eat dinner.
A few hours of cheering to the point of losing their voices passed and the events had finally ended. The crew headed to the cafeteria, only to find it completely packed. They decided that they would eat outside in the cool evening air after they got their food.
"Hey Sam. Can you save a spot for us?" asked Oliver.
"Yeah I gotchu guys," she said while crutching to the outdoor seating, "Get me some chicken tacos!" she added over her shoulder.
"How many!"
"10!"
"Sam, Jesus Christ!"
"What! They're small!"
Oliver chuckled while shaking his head and then waved to her as if to say "Okay, okay fiiiiine," before entering into the building with the others.
10 minutes later, they managed to squeeze their way out of the cafeteria back to where Sam was. They all got situated and sat down and started eating. Sam reached over to Opal who was sitting next to her and gave her a big hug.
"I'm so proud of you guys! It was such an epic game!"
Opal chuckled and hugged her back.
"Thanks Sam. It really was intense. Especially Ricky's last play."
By hearing his name, Ricky looked up from his food, quickly chewing and swallowing his bite so he could speak.
"So, I didn't actually see what happened after I fell and hit the ball. What did I do?"
Opal twisted her body to face him while giving him a soft smile.
"Somehow, the ball you reached out to flew over to the person who was in playing in the front and it went right between their legs. It was too quick for them to respond. If you would have hit it to the player in the back we would have been screwed, but your shot surprised the first person to the point where he couldn't react to it," she explained
Ricky looked shocked from hearing the truth behind the play, but then his face slowly changed to a cute, pouty face.
"I wish I could have seen it with my own eyes..." he sulked.
