Brielle's POV

I wasn't expecting to see Enrique De Leon standing at my doorstep. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect. It's not every day that a successful CEO, the heir to one of the biggest conglomerates in the country, just shows up unannounced at your door.

Still, there he was, looking impossibly good, with a smile that I could almost feel across the room. I hadn't seen him since the dinner a week ago, where everything between me and Jace had gone south. And now, here was Enrique, all calm confidence, his presence suddenly making my palms sweat. It didn't help that Hera was at home, too, with her new work friend, Ona Blakely—a tall, striking blonde with sharp gray eyes, a busty figure, and a cool vibe about her.

I tried to keep my composure, but I could feel my heart rate pick up as I mumbled, "Enrique...? What are you doing here?"

Enrique's eyes glinted with amusement as he took a step closer, his voice smooth as he responded. "Well, I'm here now. Can I come in before you start interrogating me?"

"Uh-huh, yeah, sure," I mumbled, stepping aside to let him in. "Who's there?" I called over my shoulder, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Who are you talking to, Elle?" Hera's voice echoed from the kitchen.

I ignored her question. "Enrique! Come in."

"Who's you telling to come in?" Hera called again, but her voice faltered as she walked into the room. "Wait. You mean, Enrique De Leon?"

"That's right," Enrique said with a grin, his eyes momentarily catching mine before turning to Hera.

"Hi," he said, his tone casual, but I could see the flicker of something deeper in his gaze. "How are you feeling?"

"Good, thanks," I replied, trying to sound normal, but my voice felt tight. I had to remind myself to breathe. "You?"

"I feel mighty fine, Miss Damara." He said my name slowly, almost teasing. He moved a bit closer to me, his presence overwhelming, magnetic.

"Miss Damara," he murmured, his voice dropping lower, almost a whisper. He took another step closer, and I could feel the warmth radiating off him.

My pulse quickened. His eyes held me captive, and for a moment, I forgot about everything else. It was just him, the intensity of his gaze, and that feeling—unsettling and exciting all at once. It was like he was pulling me toward him without even touching me.

Hera and Ona stood frozen for a moment, watching the exchange, their eyes flicking between me and Enrique like we were the latest drama in town. I could hear Hera's voice, half-playful, half-worried, trailing off. "Witchcraft..." she muttered under her breath, her fingertips tracing her cheek like she might slap me out of my daze.

"Well, I guess we'll leave you two alone," Ona said shyly, looking at Enrique, her voice betraying an interest I wasn't sure she was trying to hide.

"No, no need for that," I managed, though I wasn't entirely sure what I was saying. Enrique's smile was enough to keep me off balance.

"Brie, I'm here to see you," Enrique said, a smile playing on his lips as he glanced at Hera and Ona.

"Bummer," I thought, feeling a bit caught off guard by how this was all playing out. My heart was racing, and I wasn't sure why.

"Me? Why?" I asked, my voice coming out sharper than I intended. My mind jumped to Jace. "Did Jace send you?"

Enrique raised an eyebrow. "Jace? You mean the Jace De Leon?" he asked, his voice full of curiosity.

I winced at the mention of his name. "Yeah," I muttered, my heart heavy at the thought of him. I hadn't spoken to Jace in days, and I'd been avoiding his calls, his texts—everything. The tension between us had reached a boiling point, and I wasn't sure what to do anymore.
