He bit her lower lip fiercely causing her breath to hitch and her hand to tighten at his waist. "MIA!", said a voice. I looked up startled by the sudden loud voice, "What?", I said. "Maybe if you could get your head out of your book for 0.5 seconds you could join your family for dinner", Mom replied sharply. I groaned and checked my phone, I had been reading for 20 minutes and it was just getting good. I stretched my now numb foot out from under me and hesitantly followed my vivid mother out of my room.
At the table sat my dad, who I could tell was in a good mood from the goofy grin across his face, and my 9 year brother and sister. Lily and Alex are twins, technically Lily is 1.5 minutes older than Alex, but he never shows it because he is at least 4 inches taller than her. My seat and Moms seat are both barren along with out plates. I slowly fill in my seat next to my dad, his laughter contagious I find myself smiling along with the twins. I peak over at Mom to see that there is no such thing as a smile on her face, we all are hushed by Dad quickly. Mom is furiously stabbing her broccoli like no tomorrow, I cleared my throat ," Mom?", I said my voice feeble. Her eyes shot towards me and she glared daggers, " Does my daughter actually want to communicate with me?", her voice was pained and hurt ,traced with anger. Ouch. I deserved that. "Mom don't", I said pleading with her. "Don't what!", she fired back, "Don't ask for my daughter to talk to me once in a while, to go to the mall? Are you even a teenage girl!", she spat the words at me and the hurt more than expected. Dad shot a look of sympathy to me, while my eyes welled up in tears. I rose out of my chair and Moms look changed from anger to horror and sadness, I know she hadn't meant it to come out like that. I left my still empty plate on the table and walked out of the room as quick as my legs would carry me, tears started spilling out of my eyes as soon as I entered my room. It was stocked with shelves all the way to the ceiling occupied by hundreds of books, it was big and comfortable, a sanctuary for me. But at the moment all the books reminded me of was what my mom said, I know I'm not the average girl but am I that bad?
