Nothing Gold Can Stay.
The main theme of the poem 'Nothing Gold Can Stay' written by Robert Frost, is that even if you love and cherish something, it will never last, it will leave sometime or another.
Within the poem the author Robert Frost states "Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf."
This line supports the theme that everyone leaves by saying "Her early leaf's a flower;" This means that in the beginning everything good, happy, but soon soon all changes.
It then says "But only so an hour." This means the time of happiness can be short or long lived, yet never forever.
Lastly it says "Then leaf subsides to leaf." Which means it all goes back to normal and maybe even something worse, it repeats and repeats, over and over again.
Another line supports the theme is "So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay." The happiness you feel subsides to sadness after a short time, after the person you love leaves.
Everything changes and there are always going to be more obstacles, one after another and so on. The more people you meet, the more you talk to, the more you get comfortable with and start caring about, start loving. The more you loose in the end. The more will leave.
The truth is; Nothing gold can stay.
