PLOT:
Pearl Liu has become a prized possession in the Volturi after serving Aro for decades. With eyes of emerald, which remained her eye color even after her transformation into a vampire, she remains crucial in the execution of the Volturi's enemies.
For all of her immortal life, Pearl has only known the elegant lifestyle that the Volturi leads. Aro has been her leader through everything, and she stayed with him even when her lover, Carlisle Cullen, departed the Volturi because of their hunger for human blood.
However, when an encounter with Edward Cullen arises in Volterra, Aro assigns the dutiful Pearl to observe Carlisle's son and his human partner.
Pearl is forced to come face-to-face with Carlisle once again, and this time, he intends on making her stay.
SUMMARY: After the discovery of Pearl Liu's extravagant eye color, Aro took the girl under his wing when she was a mere newborn. Under the Volturi, Pearl works with Demetri to track their enemies before eliminating them permanently. Before she was subject to become a pawn in the Volturi's game, she fell in love with Carlisle Cullen when he joined them for a brief time in the early 1900s. Carlisle had begged Pearl to leave with him, but the girl was adamant on staying, determined to serve the rest of her immortal life under Aro's commands. She doesn't encounter him again until his son arrives at the Volturi's door, a mousy human draping on his arm. Aro assigns to Pearl to watch over the two, and ensure that the human girl will be transformed into a vampire at the right time. Pearl must face Carlisle once again, and she's unsure if she can deny his affections this time around.
