Riley shouted happily as she was holding tightly on Pidgeotto's legs as the Bird Pokémon flew not far from the ground. Ash, Brock and Misty were trailing behind them, talking with each other while Pikachu was resting on top of Ash's backpack.

"This is so fun!" the little girl called and Ash chuckled. "Looks like Pidgeotto doesn't mind taking Riley for a spin," Misty said with a smile. "She's small and easy to carry," Brock said with a chuckle before noticing that they were approaching a mountain called 'Mt. Moon', "We're almost there."

"'Mt. Moon', doesn't the name sound romantic?" Misty asked. "People say that a huge meteor crashed into the mountain back in the prehistoric times," Brock said.

"A meteor?" Ash asked as Pidgeotto flew Riley back toward the three older kids. "Is it really true?" Misty asked. "The meteor is call The Moonstone," Brock said. "Ahh now that's romantic," Misty said as Riley let go of Pidgeotto's legs.

"Okay Ray, it's time for Pidgeotto to rest," Ash said. "Can I play with it again later?" Riley asked and Pidgeotto called out its agreement. "I think it's a yes," Brock said. "Thanks Pidgeotto, take a rest," Ash said as he held Pidgeotto's Poké ball, letting the Bird Pokémon to go back inside.

They suddenly heard a scream, which made them look toward the path. "Look, over there," Ash said before they all ran toward the base of Mt. Moon to see a man being attacked by a group of Zubat.

"It's a bunch of Zubat," Ash said. "They attacking that guy," Misty said as Ash pulled out his Dexter.

Zubat, blind Pokémon with supersonic powers. Zubat live in caves and hate to fly outside in daylight.

Ash looked at the Zubat, "Not those Zubat," he said. "This is no time for jokes!" Misty scolded, "That guy needs our help!"

"You're right, I'm sorry. Pikachu, Thunder Shock," Ash said. Pikachu jumped off his head, attacking the group of Zubat with Thunder Shock. The Zubat all flew inside the cave and the kids all ran toward the guy. "Are you okay?" Ash asked.

The guy stood up, smiling, "Wow, you guys are the greatest!" He pulled Ash and Pikachu into a tight hug, "I'm talking super-fantabulistic! I mean two thumbs up, way up, the best rescue I've ever had!"

Pikachu shocked them both with Thunder Shock and stopped. Ash let go of him and the mouse Pokémon quickly jumped into Riley's arms and sighed in relief, "Cha."

"They say that man's best friend is a Pokémon, and with you two, I believe it," the guy said. "Oh, that's nice," Ash said. "I'm so moved, such friendship I thought I'd never see... when the Zubat began attacking me!" the guy said, "I thought I was done for when who should arrive? Two heroes thanks to whom I'm alive!"

"He certainly doesn't look like the poetic type," Misty noted. "Did I mention how grateful I am?" the guy asked, clutching Ash's wrists in his hands. "Uh... yeah," Ash answered, "Anyway, why were the Zubat attacking you, mister?"

"Huhhh," the guy gasped, "Never call me mister! My name's Seymour... Seymour the Scientist! Knowledge, research, I'm Seymour the Scientist!" Ash, Misty and Brock stared at him while Riley blinked, "We have to say all of that?" she whispered to Pikachu. "Pika," the male mouse said as he tilted his head, staring at the man.

Seymour led the kids inside the cave to show them there were number of lights hooked up deep into the cave, lighting it all up. "See? The cave is all lit up inside. Somebody has strung these lights through the whole cave. But the Pokémon in this cave need the dark. These lights are upsetting them and making them confused."

"Which is probably why the Zubat left the cave and attacked you," Brock said. "Look here, these Paras planting their mushrooms everywhere," Seymour said, "And the hot lights are drying up these Sandshrew."
