When the stars fell

It was the month of December, when everyone is overjoyed and all prepared  for christmas. Balloons, streamers, Christmas cake, gifts, mistletoe and a small fairy star on the top of the Xmas tree, no doubt everything is full of life.

The braxtons were prepared too just like the other families and they had a small boy aged around 10 called Samuel. Samuel was not like the other children around his community he loved unusual things which were quite wierd to look at.. he loved to watch the ants buliding their tiny home, jokers and clowns amazed him and he had a habit of saying "oii" before calling out someone (anyone basically ) he had freckles  on his cheeks  and bright ocean blue eyes which were mesmerising to look at.

Samuel's  mom was a baker at the Thompson bakery which was located far from bellsberg  (the town where they lived) she baked delicious  cookies and cakes which were mouthwatering  and was well known in the town for her bakeries.

His father was a trader and was busy all the time so when he got his Christmas holidays  he decided to spend more time with his family.

Samuel was excited for 25th December but he was smart enough to understand that Santa clauses don't really exist and all the time he knew that his parents would hide the gifts under his bed but refrained to say anything to them. He had everything arranged for his little pets too because he believed Christmas is for everyone. His little sister mazie loved flowers and had all types of flowers grown in their backyard.

Mazie loved the trilliums but they were not available  at the time of Christmas  as all the florists were enjoying the time of the year, she wanted them anyhow to grow them in her backyard and asked her parents to get them for her as a present but they couldn't get it for her since they were only found in the forest nearby and it would've been dangerous for them to get it. Mazie was upset and sat in her room alone crying. Samuel  enters her room  and asks her "oii mazie what's wrong?" Mazie replies sobbingly "i wanted just one thing as a present but mom and dad couldn't get it for me, why am i always the unlucky one (cries more)" Samuel couldn't  see his sister cry like that so he asked her what she wanted and she says "The painted trilliums found in the forest, can you get them for me please?" Samuel was a little afraid to know that he had to go in the forest in order to get those flowers but since he loved Mazie he decided to get them by hook or crook.

"Wait! What if mom and dad gets to know about this?" Mazie gasped, Samuel had no clue and was speechless as he didn't know what he would answer his parents "i'll try to be home soon and won't let anyone know about it unless you remain quite" samuel said confidently grabbing his cloak and wearing his new winter boots. "Cya mazie your brother is a hero don't forget this" Mazie was very  happy  but  worried too.

Samuel made it out of his house somehow without letting anyone know and had all the supplements required  incase of emergency. He got a knife, a torch, a rope and some water. Samuel was brave  enough  to enter the forest on a snowy winter day. He questioned himself "what if i get lost and never return back home,afterall i have never been to a forest before?" He had a sudden fear when he got deep in the forest "well, the trilliums mustn't be that far and i will get it for Mazie anyhow i'm a brave hero!" Samuel actuated himself

After a long hour of walking in the forest Samuel finally found the trilliums dazzling in a patch. He went forward  and started to pluck them and took five of them and bustled to go back home but as he made his move he saw three children staring at him he looked at them in a baffled way and yelled at them  "oii what's wrong with you guys stop looking at me like i did some murder" the  kids looked at each other in a confused manner but said nothing. Samuel ignored them and rushed  his way home as the sun was about to set and was worried since the Christmas party will begin soon.

Samuel came back home with the trilliums still fresh in his hand  but as he entered the house he saw Mazie standing embarrassingly along with his parents  gazing at him with anger.

"WHERE WERE YOU SAMUEL?" hollered his mom ,Poor Samuel expected his mom to ask this first incase he get caught "i-i was just getting these flowers for Mazie i swear i didn't commit any crime" Samuel was petrified "YOU'RE  GROUNDED! NO PARTY FOR  YOU TONIGHT" his father yelled at him and as he was going upstairs to his room mazie gave him a sorry look.

Mazie managed to come to Samuel's room and told him "hey brother i'm sorry to see you get caught but i swear i did'nt tell them anything" Samuel replied normally "it's  alright i know you didn't tell them" he gently handed the flowers to Mazie and said "here you go sweetpea" Mazie hugged him tightly and kissed on his cheeks saying "You're the best brother ever! By the way how did you get them?" Samuel told Mazie about the children in the forest and she was  very surprised "why would anyone be in the forest at that time? Were they looking for trilliums too?" Mazie said in dazed "I don't think so. They were three of them and i couldn't see them properly all i remember is that they didn't speak anything"

Mazie and Samuel sat wondering in confusion.
