Safyra hadn't even noticed that no one was in the VIP booth. She was having too much fun. A few people stepped up and requested a few songs and she played them. She couldn't believe she was having this much fun in a club while she was completely sober. It was just too surreal. She noticed Bryson had been gone for almost an hour. She began to worry, and decided to throw on a pre-recorded track. She slipped behind the curtain to find Bryson and it was completely pitch black. She couldn't see a thing until her eyes adjusted to the darkness. She saw a single door straight ahead. She opened it and there were stairs that only went down. She went down and found another door that she opened. As she walked in she gasped. She walked into the most luxurious penthouse she had ever seen in her life. She thought she was living nicely. All of the penthouse's walls were windows except for one. The furniture was the deepest brown suede and it went with the dark cherry wood floors. The rugs looked as if they were live animals. The fur looked so soft. The paintings on the main wall looked as if they belonged in a museum and the fireplace was huge. In fact, it had a fire going, so she knew that someone had to be there.
"Bry..?" she called out his name and received no answer. "Bry...?" she called again, this time a forty-something looking woman with piercing blue eyes and medium length platinum blonde hair appeared with nothing on but a set of all black see through lingerie. It looked expensive. Safyra knew her lingerie.
"Bryson is sleeping," she said calmly, "Who are you?"
"A concerned friend." Safyra snapped back. Bryson walked out from a room with nothing but boxers on rubbing his eyes and was trying to see what was going on.
"Safyra," he said shocked, "I... Uh... Cat I told you I couldn't go to sleep I had to step back out to Dj, how did I fall asleep?"
She laughed deviously, "Oh Bryson honey, I slipped you a little something in your water to help you relax. You seemed as if you were in a rush. I like our time together." She turned and put a hand on his cheek. He swatted her hand away angrily marching into her bedroom to retrieve his clothes. Cat turned back to face Safyra who had a look of confusion on her face.
"You're a pretty girl. Safyra, is it?" she said in a demeaning tone. She picked up a glass of wine that had lipstick on it, and Safyra noticed that she had none on her lips. She gagged to even think about how it came off. She walked towards Safyra slowly until she was almost touching her chest to chest. Safyra was frozen. Something about this woman was cold and intimidating. Safyra began to notice the heads of large animals hanging on the wall that she hadn't noticed before. She even saw a desk in the corner with several types of weapons splayed out for show. They ranged from swords to rifles and even a couple of gas masks sat up as if they were staring at her.Cat noticed Safyra was intimidated by the weapons. She padded over to them and picked up a long intricate sword. Safyra's body stiffened even more. Walking back over to Safyra she grinned. "I got this beauty from Japan," she said staring at Safyra, "it can slice through anything, even a 6'6 300 pound snitch... I know from experience." There was a darkness in her eyes that sent chills down her spine. She touched Safyra's skin with the side of the sword, still keeping eye contact with her. The metal sent a shock through her skin. Safyra's pulse quickened and her eyes glazed over and began to water. She closed her eyes and a tear slid from one of them. She had never been so scared in her life.
"Whatever you have going on with Bryson is stopping, starting tonight." she said firmly. Two large men in suits standing by the front door cleared their throats. They were literally giants. She saw them holding their waists, and she could tell they had guns, because she saw the holsters.
"But-" safyra started looking back and forth between them and Cat.
"No, don't speak please. I'm sure you think you love him. But I love him more. Whatever you can do, little one, I can do better," She said. She was so close Safyra could smell the wine on her breath. "That pretty little face you have could accidentally end up sliced up, on the side of a milk carton, or on channel 6."
She cupped Safyra's cheek and smiled a motherly smile. "You're going to leave my home. You're never going to speak to Bryson again. And you're going to avoid him at all costs. Stay. Away. I hope we have an understanding. And keep your mouth shut about what you saw tonight. Or I'll make sure you never utter another word."
Safyra was stuck. Cat's hand was cold and made her hold her breath. She had a promising look in her eyes when she told her to stay away from Bryson. And with that she turned and went to refill her glass of wine by the still burning fireplace. Safyra sprinted for the door not looking back. Bryson screamed her name but she had already started up the steps. He turned around to see Cat laughing to herself. "What did you say to her, huh?!"
"Only what she needed to know, dear." She said sipping wine from her glass and keeping eye contact with Bryson.
"Don't hurt her Cat. She's just a friend. We've never been together like that." He said trying to convince her.
"If I see her with you, there will be consequences. Period. She'll wish she never knew your name." She half laughed at the cruelness in her voice. Bryson just glared at her clenching his fists. Cat was his financial support. She knew the dean to his school. She owned the club and his apartment. She even bought him a new Porsche Boxster GTS. She owned him. As long as he gave her what she wanted, every once in a while, he didn't have to worry about anything.
Safyra stopped to take her heels off in the stairwell on her way to the parking garage. She forgot that she wasn't the one who drove there. Giselle did. F-uck.
The same two large men in suits appeared from behind a large black truck and were now walking straight towards her. They reached for their guns. "YOU DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING TONIGHT. AND DON'T FORGET IT." One of them screamed to her while they continued to chase after her. Safyra didn't have time to process the situation at hand. She ran back to the club and down the stairwell. She exited outside and ran until she couldn't anymore. Safyra stopped a mile away from the club. Her apartment was just down the road. She bent over with her hands on her thighs gasping for air. She fell to the ground with tears streaming down her face. Her mind was so clouded with all of the things that just happened. She didn't know what to do. Or who the hell Cat was. Or why she sent those two giants after her. All she could think about was how she wished she would've stayed home tonight.
