One that was once needed,
Lost it's light of hope.~~~
That morning was like any other. A cool breeze blew outside, ruffling the leaves on the trees. Choirs of birds sat on their branches, singing their usual song. The sun hadn't fully risen, but this gave the sky an orange hue.
Violet woke up early again that day. Each morning her alarm clock blared throughout her room made her frustrated, remembering how strict the rules were at the house she lived in and how she was forced to follow them. Making her bed as usual, she pushed away the curtains on her window out of curiosity.
I guess he wouldn't be awake yet at this time. I'll wait till the afternoon.
Closing her bedroom door behind her, she walked down to the main floor of the house. She had time to spare before breakfast, which she planned to use to read in the small library by the living room. To her surprise, Mrs. Waters was already waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs, her hands on her hips.
"Violet," she started, Violet already afraid. "you will be working as a maid in this house from here on until the end of summer. I figured you didn't do much at home during the past few days, so I guess it's about time you become of use."
Violet, not expecting to be given work so suddenly, stepped back. "But, Mrs. Waters—"
"No buts!" Mrs. Waters said sharply. "You do not do anything in this house in the time you are here, and I do not appreciate having a freeloader living under the same roof as I am."
"Mr. and Mrs. Vallet didn't tell me that I should be expecting work in your house."
"That's exactly because you shouldn't have." Mrs. Waters said. "It was something I decided just yesterday evening to have you do. You will only help the other maids with cleaning the house this summer. Your shift starts at 1:00pm and ends at 3:00pm, so just be thankful you don't have to work the whole day like the other maids."
"But... y-yes, ma'am."
"Good." Mrs. Waters tossed Violet an old and torn apron. "Use this, you're going to need it."
Violet sighed, picking up the apron. I'm gonna have to fix this first, huh?

"Quillon, I've noticed you haven't been completing as much homework recently as you have been before." Quinn's mother said. "Have you been up to anything in the past few days?"
"N-No, Mother." Quinn replied, looking down.
"You haven't been yourself lately." Quinn's father noticed, narrowing his eyes. "Are you sure you don't have anything you're hiding?"
"N-No, Father."
"As punishment for not completing your daily homework, I printed two extra Physics worksheets for you to complete today." Quinn's mother said strictly, dropping two packages of paper on his desk. "You are to finish the homework you couldn't finish yesterday, your daily homework for today, as well as these two worksheets. Is that clear?"
"B-But, Mother-"
"Is that clear?" She repeated with an angrier tone.
"I-I'm trying my best to meet the daily quota but—"
He was cut off by his father's fist hitting his left cheek.

"You're not working fast enough!" Mrs. Waters scolded. "All the windows should have been clean five minutes ago!"
