Everything was dark. Entangled by a mixture of the moonlight and the crimson red. Blood. Trying my best to survive the attack, I ran.
It had been a normal day. Hungry and lost. I was strolling around the ruins of the airport. Nothing edible was existent and I frowned upon the sound of my growling stomach.
Why ever did Mother leave me? If she were here, I would have at least had some emotional support. Now, I was alone in this cold, shivering and empty world.
All adults had died from a virus and almost every children had been taken by the vampires. Mother had me lock myself in the basement and only come out when the sun shone.
But when I finally came out for the first time, she was no longer a part of this cruel world.
And of course, when the vampires weren't anywhere nearby. I didn't have any siblings or a father. At the very least, even if I did, I certainly didn't have any memory of them.
I stepped onto an abandoned plane, its atmosphere grown dense by the moss and age. I sat down at a passenger's seat to finally have the comfort of sleeping somewhere comfy in a while.
It was much warmer inside the plane. "Oi! You hear that?" I heard. I flinched, knowing it was the voice of a vampire. "Footsteps? Yeah, I heard it too." The other vampire replied.
I clutched onto my dress fearing the future of getting killed a painful death. "Maybe it's nothing. Just random rodents." The vampire said again.
I sighed out of relief. Maybe I'll survive today afterall... "Sure, why don't we report to our Lord then?" I finally eased into my seat, still being silent.
Then, I heard the vampires leave. Footsteps fading as they left the plane. Just then, a hand clasped over my mouth. "Just kidding~"
My last memory of the plane was fright. It was a hideous thing to remember.

When I woke up, I was embraced by the warmth of a bed. I snuggled into it, imagining everything had been a dream. Imagining living had been a dream.
I felt a slight tickle on my face and I fluttered my eyes open. My eyes were met by crimson ones as they observed me in the most curious ways.
A vampire.
"You're awake. I was hoping you'd sleep some more. I enjoyed watching you in your slumber." He said. I was shocked by the bluntness of his greeting.
"Uh...um...." I was looking for words but couldn't find the right ones to say. What could you actually say to a vampire on your first meeting? He could kill me any moment.
As if reading my thoughts, he replied, "Fear me not. I am Urd Geales, King of Russia. I was intrigued by the scent of your blood. It is quite strange. You have the scent of a human but your eyes...."
I looked away from him a bit. "W-what a-about my...e-eyes?"
"They are red. Like a vampire's. Yet your blood smells so sweet. I don't believe I can resist it for long."
He held out his hand and touched my neck. I shivered from his touch and he backed off a bit, noticing how frightened I was of him.
"Say....would you mind telling me your name?" He said. I pondered for a moment before answering the stranger. He began touching my arm and kept observing me like a doll.
"It's Riku."
"Then, Riku. You'll stay by my side from now on. I won't let anyone harm you as long as you submit your entire blood and soul to me."
What could I say?
Nodding, he grinned. I waited, in case he was ready for his first drink from me. Instead, he got up and walked out leaving me in a confused daze.
"Sleep tight. And have some porridge if you wish." was all he said before he left the room, locking it in the process. All he did was strange to me but I could care less as I snuggled into the warmth of the duvet covering me.
