There she stood, smiling toothlessly as she stared ahead at the empty board, but deep inside, her anxiety was kicking her terribly. This was her 3rd time this week forgetting to submit homework. Homework that was easy, that never needed too much time and effort placed upon, and though Karla always set a reminder on her phone, it never worked as she was too worked on her art to take a break and focus on the general reality she's been running away from.
"Chandler, tell me what the fuck do I do?" She started off, her voice delicate, the opposite of the thoughts battling her mind, that smile stood plastered across her lips as she spoke, she felt her palms growing more in sweat as students started to fill in the classroom.
Ironically, Karla was always early in class, she liked having a little peace and quiet before it would all crumble down by the loud students whom didn't have much care in the world, whilst the brown eyed hellion, was watching her anxiety worsen by the second, but no amount of Prozac would help, not this time, besides, she forgot to carry it with her this time, which only made it worse, and it was just the start of school.
"Listen. Just be honest, all right? There's nothing more you can do. Unless you wanna get your fat ass out of that chair and dart out of class for the next 45 minutes, I don't mind covering for you, but you know it will look suspicious."
"You think?" She snickered, leaning closer towards him, her smile fading away. "I've looked suspicious the entire week, but this time, I know I will really get into trouble, and I can't handle another lecture from Mr. Larson, talking about how this generation is messed up due to the use of social media, as well as him ranting off about his ex wife whom cheated on him from the start of their relationship."
Chandler raised his hands in surrender. "Regardless, we both know you're getting that lecture, it happens all the time, aren't you used to nodding your head, smiling, and pretending to care for what he says?"
"Yeah. The first 7 times. But it's to the fucking point I know exactly what he's going to say next. I've memorized everything, it's not even funny anymore. I think I'm going to have to ditch this class."
He frowned for a second, before replacing his prominent frown with his usual smile. "Go for it. You have the next few minutes to go into your little hiding place. I'll text you once class is done."
"Don't. I'll probably miss the next class" She mumbled, standing up, catching a few students attention, She gently held her backpack before calmly walking out of the class and into Mr. Larson whom stood outside, conversing with another teacher.
Karla felt her heartbeat palpitate, she cursed under her breath once she was immediately noticed by him, as he waved at her.
"Fuck. I cant run now" she murmured to herself, slowly walking towards him as the teacher walked away. Leaving Mr. Larson and Karla on their own, at the empty hallways.
"Why are you out of class?" He raised a playful eyebrow, while she stood there, strangely smiling at the old man whom was patiently waiting for a response.
"Uh. Well, the bell didn't ring so I assumed I still had time to use the...ladies room" her voice drowned down to a whisper towards the end of her sentence. "You don't mind, right? I won't take too long."
"Well since the bell isn't going to ring for another 2 minutes, I do not. But hurry up, I have an important announcement to make, and I won't say it until you're back."
"Great" she stretched that word out, trying to keep up with her smile, as she turned around and began walking towards the women's room, her footsteps slow and lazy, but she quickly changed the route of her direction once she heard him walk away, to the class she had gotten out of.
