The park is the best place to just sit and think. I had called my sister to meet me here so I could spend some time out of my apartment. I had brought my cockapoo, Milo, with me, its light brown fur had a ginger tone to it. Sometimes my dog was the only friend I had to talk to. I didn't have many friends, only brief acquaintances from the fruit and veg store where I worked.
"Eva, Hey!" I heard from behind me. I turned back to see my sister, Riley, jogging towards the bench where I sat. "Why do you look so lonely?" Riley asked.
"Ever thought that maybe I am lonely?" I said, smiling weakly at her. She frowns and rolls her eyes, she directs her attention towards Milo. She puts on a baby voice, pouts her lips and stokes his curly fur. She looks back at me.
"Eva, you'll never guess what happened just now." She rambles on for the next 10 minutes about how some 'hot guy' bumped into her and he held her hand a little too long when he gave her phone back. I looked at his face and his curly brown hair over a cleanly cut beard. His jaw was strong and well structured but his eyes were his best feature. Those piercing blue ocean eyes bore into me, washing a sense of fear over me. He pulled me to my feet and I didn't realise how close he was to me until I looked up at him.
"I-I'm sorry, my fault..." I stuttered. Milo started barking at him and he knelt down to stroke him. He quietened and the man looked back at me, smiling.
"It's okay, where are you off to?" He asked, putting his hands in his pockets.
"Um, home" I said. "I have to go, sorry..." I said, walking past him. I didn't look back and made my way home as quickly as possible. When I entered my apartment I collapsed. I decided I needed a burning hot shower and an early night. I had to go to work tomorrow anyway. That night I couldn't sleep and I couldn't get that man off my mind. I didn't like him. I just...Ugh!
