I opened the plastic wrapper from the sandwich that I had bought earlier with all the money I had been given from people who actually gave me there spare change. I walked a little further until I reached my place I called home, which was the pathway outside a closed down shop; I swiftly sat down making sure not to drop my food which I had spent all my ‘earnings’ on. I continued to eat my food, trying not to think what I’m going to have to do tomorrow, just so I can eat. I wrapped my blanket round me to try and provide some warmth from the cold air that continuously hit me, I closed my eyes and rested my head back on the wall behind me and tried to get myself to sleep.
“Look what I found” I heard being shouted above me as I was rudely awoken from my sleep. I glanced up to see a boy; he looked as if he was 18. He smiled down at me as he called his friends over. Great, this isn’t going to go well.
“What do you want?” I asked, my voice sounding raspy and weak as I had just woke up.
“What’s a girl like you doing on the streets?” He asked, ignoring my previous question.
“That’s none of your business. I would appreciate it if you would leave me alone now.” I snapped back. I didn’t need to be dealing with annoying teenagers who think they are better than me just because they don’t live on the streets.
“Someone’s a little feisty.” He laughed at me, and his friends who surrounded me chuckled along with him. I just decided to ignore them; hopefully they would just leave me alone. Which they didn’t.
“I was talking to you!” He shouted at me whilst ripping my blanket away from me and throwing it further down the pathway, I continued to ignore him until I felt myself being pulled up to my feet. I sighed to myself realising that this wasn’t going to go away anytime soon.
“Just leave me alone. I don’t need people like you interfering in my life.” I said, trying to stay calm and not wanting them to be near me any longer.
“That’s it; I have had enough with you.” He almost whispered to me and I felt a sharp pain in my stomach from where I had just got hit. I bent over in pain as I tried to get my breath back which just gave them more of an opportunity to hurt me. I felt a knee go into my stomach and I fell to the ground where I was continuously kicked in any place of my body they could reach. I slowly felt myself leaving consciousness until they suddenly stopped and run off.
“Are you okay?” I heard a familiar voice say as I felt myself getting more conscious, my eyes focused on the figured that was crouched down in front of me and I managed to get a look at their face. That’s who it is.
“Excuse me? Are you alright? Do you need help?” I ignored him, I didn’t need his pity. I pushed myself up from the ground and stood up; I tried to balance and felt myself sway to the side but kept in place by two strong hands. Why is he even still here? He should just leave me alone.
“I don’t need your help or your pity.” I spat at him, trying to get him to just leave me alone, I shook his hands off me and grabbed my blanket from where it had been thrown.
“I’m just trying to help you.” He spoke softly, almost fooling me into believing him.
“You are just trying to earn yourself more fame by helping some homeless kid. I know who you are, you just want to get in everyone’s good books. Justin Bieber.” I huffed and winced in a little pain as I bent down and picked up my other things and started to walk off.
“All I wanted to do was to help you, that’s why I stopped those guys from hurting you.” He almost snapped at me, his voice sounding a little bitter, I rolled my eyes.
“Just leave me alone, my life would be better without you.” I spat at him, not regretting anything I said, but feeling a little bit of guilt from saying it. I shook it off and just walked down the street to find a new shop to sit outside of and to call home.
