I felt like a child, scribbling in my notebook and daydreaming- as opposed to paying attention in class. I sighed wistfully, and twisting my wrist to inscribe: 'Sarah <3' onto the bottom of the page. I hadn't really realized, then, my heartfelt obsession with Sarah Jean West, nor had I realized how much grief it would cause me.

I slammed my notebook closed when the school bell rang, catching a glance of her back as she scurried out of the classroom. Her beach blonde hair swished behind her and whipped around the corner as she left the room. I sighed gently. Feeling a tiny finger poke the back of my head, I turned around.

There stood my best friend Morgan, a petite girl who's aura just screamed 'Tinker Bell.' She smiled and looked up at me, her blue eyes twinkling. "Who were you looking at, Jakey?"

Side note, Morgan had always called me Jakey, since the 1st grade, in fact. As a kid, it had just kind of rolled of her tongue, and it's just stuck. I didn't really mind, until people started thinking it was a pet name and that we're dating; especially since Morgan was like my sister. I remember one of the only times Sarah and I have actually held a conversation. She had asked me, 'Is she your girlfriend?', and I remember being so frustrated while thinking. 'No! I like you!'

I groaned and punched her shoulder playfully. "Shut up, you already know."

"Do I? I must've forgotten." She jokes, trying to aggravate me. "Do you mind telling me her name again?"

I shake my head. "Just... shh, let's get to the bus."

I shut my locker door and turned around, looking for Morgan. She had just been behind me, so I wondered where she had went. I just shrugged it off and figured that she had to pee. I started towards the door, so I wouldn't miss the bus. I started to daydream while walking, thinking about Sarah. She always occupied my thoughts.

"Ah!" I wailed, rubbing my head. I must've  dozed out and ran into the door.

I heard a soft giggle from behind me, "Are you okay, hun?"

"Hm?" I muttered, turning around.. and guess who I saw?

Sarah.

My cheeks flushed and I rubbed my forehead. This had only made her laugh more, which kind of killed me on the inside. I thought that she was making fun of me for being clumsy.

"I-I'm fine." I chuckled nervously, barely looking in her eyes.

She giggled again, "I'm Sarah, by the way. You seem really funny."

"Uh, really? I've never thought of myself as a funny person, really." I said, raising my eyebrow.

"Really?" She gasped. "Well, you are! You're also pretty cute. I'd loved to get to know you some more. Do you have a name, by any chance, funny guy?"

I tried to suppress my shock. "I'm Jacob Hanks."

"Well, nice to meet you, Jacob." She smiled. And pulled out a small slip of paper and a pen. She wrote something down and handed it to me. "Here's my number. We should chat tonight."

"Right." I beamed.

She waved, "Well, cya!"

"Cya." I said, instantly smiling as she walked away.
