SO basically I'm bored.This story's good.
The day before Christmas…
How time flies so fast…
I spent the whole morning making rounds on my other hotels. As I walked through the corridors, I could not count the number of people who walked up to me to say 'Merry Christmas' and 'thank you'. I replied to each greeting with either a nod or a faint smile. I was pleased with the fact that my business has been going well for the past few weeks, especially during the seasons.
I kept myself busy by reviewing business proposal, financial reports, and employee application forms, hoping that it would make time run faster than it already did. I just wanted this day to end. Then, I would go back to my room tired from all the work. Perhaps that way, it would be easier for me to sleep. I would not have to hear the Christmas carols being played in every corner of my hotel. I would not have to see the grand fireworks display I had my men prepare for the employees' Christmas party. I would not have to see those smiles from other people who would be spending Christmas Eve with their loved ones. I would not have to feel jealous and miserable from spending the holiday alone. Christmas, to me, would be like any other ordinary day.
Kosuke has not showed up either…
Perhaps, he would be spending Christmas with his mother… and father…
Ring…
Ring…
I picked up my mobile phone, "This is Nu…"
Ayane-chan…
"Rei-kun!" I exclaimed upon recognizing his voice.
How are you? I… I miss you so much.
"Rei-kun… I… I miss you too."
I'm happy to hear that… I'm sorry if I can't be with you right now. I'll make it up to you once I come back for New Year, Ayane-chan…
"How's Switzerland?"
The usual… It could have been better if you were here… How are things there?
"The hotels are doing great. We closed a French deal just recently. The construction of the new hotel will start early next year."
A new hotel means new work for you. Ayane-chan, you have to rest once in a while…
"How about the laboratory?"
We're in the final parts of the trial. The process surely is difficult without your father's help, but I'm sure things would go well. The scientists asked me for three more days. I'm confident that the extraction of Silver Lily Vapors would be successful this time. I'll call you right away once I get an update.
"That's good…" I answered as I stood up from my seat and walked towards the foggy glass walls of my office, overlooking the city streets below.
Ayane-chan…
"Yes?"
I hope that by the time I come back… you already have an answer…
"Rei-kun…"
I love you so much, Ayane-chan…
I love you…
I fell silent when he said that. I continued to listen to him on the other line, yet Rei did not say a word. He did not hang up as if waiting for my reply. Thirty seconds… then a minute… then two, then three minutes.
He still did not hang up.
I still did not say a word.
And then…
