"There are two kinds of people in this world," the groom starts, licking his lips before resuming.
You didn't want to be here. Your friend, the bride, knew this, knew your dislike and distaste of weddings but she's one of your closest friends so it's a no brainer that you couldn't miss this because tonight is the most important and the most special day of her life, of every woman's life, actually. You told yourself that you'll forget about the multiple reasons why you didn't like events like this and you'll enjoy yourself tonight. But it seems that you still can't bring yourself to do what your mind wanted.
"An annoyer and an annoyee," the groom smiles as he watches everyone. "At first, in college, I was the annoyer because she wouldn't go out on a date with me. Even when we were going out, she never fails to annoy me."
Yoongi glances back at his glowing bride briefly, giggling when the apple of her cheeks and her ears turn red. "However," he returns to face the front, raising a finger up to emphasize his next point. "I knew I wanted to marry her because I was proud to call myself the annoyee. Sophie is an annoyer but she's my annoyer and I'll love her forever." Yoongi's gummy smile becomes more prominent in the light that surrounds the whole reception venue.
Soon after, the groom proposes a toast to love. The couple then share a kiss to which the guests clap and gush upon. They revel in what would be the beginning of the rest of their lives.
Just then, a singer comes up on the side of the stage and introduces the couple's theme song. You watch him, dressed in a white shirt and a red blazer, trousers and black shoes. This unfamiliar man is striking at first glance and he draws you in when he starts off singing a ballad effortlessly. Apparently, it's not only you whose attention is captured because everyone is now up to their feet to head to the centre and dance with their partners slowly.
The singer only looks at you for a brief second before transferring his gaze to the people swaying their bodies to the rhythm of his smooth voice that flowed fluidly as if you're watching the streams of a waterfall and it becomes satisfying to the eyes and ears.
After that toast Yoongi made, it just made it ten times harder to smile genuinely and agree upon his words. It seems that his toast was the final straw that made you realize you really want to escape because watching people dance and being inside a huge crowd feels like you're going to be out of breath.
When the singer finished his set beautifully, receiving an outstanding reception from the newlywed and all the people, the one in charge of the music starts blasting this upbeat music and you recognise it having heard it from the radio.
As soon as you hear the words, you know it's Troye Sivan who sings it but you're unable to pinpoint the exact song title which bothered and frustrated you because it's in the tip of your tongue. When your friend, Hoseok, jumps from his seat across you, your little moment of eureka also comes to you as you finally figure out the title—Youth.
He excitedly professes that he loves this song and already, he's urging you to go with him, hopping up and down with a wide smile on his face. "Y/N, come on. Let's dance!"
You crease your brows at him and shook your head, motioned with your finger that you're going to the bar. He then shrugs at your decision, begins to shake his hips, busting out his dance moves in line with the beat of the song as he proceeds to the main dance floor like he's at a club. That was your cue to leave and go to the open bar to order more drinks.
From where you're sitting at the open bar, you look back at the view and you see everyone jumping and singing along to the words. Sophie even stood up from her seat and dragged her husband who seemed to whine at first, scrunching his nose before smiling and dancing with his wife joyfully, as if they're reliving the days of their youth.
