He was sitting quietly by the fountain after his mother sent him out of the house. His mom never let him spend a lot of time in the house because, children had to play outside unless it was dinner time or bedtime. She was strict with this rule. Most times like today he spent in the garden. This garden belongs to his mother. She loves to work in the garden. Sometimes the boy believes if his mom had to choose between him and the garden he would be tossed out.
He thought of this quite a lot. Like right now these thoughts a racing through his mind until suddenly a flickering light caught his eye, they were near the rose bush, his mother's most prized possession. As he walked across the garden he passed the daisies, but when he got there the flickering lights were no longer there. He figured the lights were just his mind playing tricks on him until, a loud scream suddenly erupted piercing the silence like a knife. This scared the boy as he slammed his hands over his ears and went into a squatting position.
It was not a pleasant sound. As the noise stopped he got up slowly from his position and cautiously took his hands away from his ears. Suddenly the skies began to darken; the trees became naked, the flowers began to wilt, and the water in the fountain turned to a blood red.
The wind was howling and the sky became foggy. The boy was watching this happen, observing. Almost as if he was frozen; too scared to move, breath, or make a sound. He knew not of what would happen if the silence was broken. Lightning struck down and hit the rose bush behind him. This had the boy flying into the air from fear. The rose bush was now burnt and dead for all time. The only things running through his mind was of what his mom would think and of how to make things go back to normal.
But he didn't know how to change something back if he couldn't figure out what caused it. This thought droned on in his mind as he thought of the events that had happened. His mind focused on what brought him over to the rose bush. The flickering lights that, at the time, he found fascinating. The boy thought to himself how could such little lights make this big of a mess? As he thought about this a masked stranger appeared in the garden. Black attire that covered the man from head to toe. He slowly crept behind the boy, and the masked stranger voiced boomed throughout the garden.
"Who are you to mess with this garden? Who are you to upset nature?"
The boy jumped at this voice. He very cautiously turned around to face the man. The man's eyes were the only thing you could see; a black color, and a scar next to his right eye. His eyes looked as though the were burning with rage. The boy didn't understand why though, for he had been in this garden numerous time, well the garden before everything was dead.
The boy then spoke back, "what do you mean? This is mommy's garden, or at least it was until everything started dying."
This made the man stare at the kid in confusion. 'Doesn't the kid have the slightest clue what he did?' The man thought. Little did the kid know he accidentally upset the balance by going near the rose bush at that time of day. When the flickering lights come out. Only Mother Nature is aloud near the rose bush at that time. Otherwise you upset the balance of life and death.
" Do you have no clue boy!" The man stated in an angered manner.
" Honest mister I didn't do it? I dunno what  happened?" The boy spoke back.
I can fix this thought the masked man. We've needed a new Mother Nature for a while, the other one wasn't doing her job. He seems to have an innocent arua about him, and the characteristics in him are that of Mother Nature.
"Young man," spoke the stranger, "I have a proposition for you. Do you know who Mother Nature is my boy?"
"Yes sir! I do know who Mother Nature is mommy has explained it to me before." Spoke the young boy. The child was confused as to why the man would be asking him this question. What does this have to do with me? what's was going on? Then the man began to speak again.
"This is going to be a little confusing to you boy considering you're like what 5 years old."
"Sir I'm 7 years old."the boy said in return to this.
"Well your kinda scrawny kid," The man stated in a matter a fact tone, "how do you expect me to know with how short you are? Never mind about that. We need a new Mother Nature the old one is no longer able to do her job very well, so what do you say to being Mother Nature?"
"What do I have to do as Mother Nature sir?" The young child questioned to the older male.
"Just take care of the plants, and keep other humans from harming the nature surrounding them. You will be given unique gifts to do so," The man continued on about what Mother Nature does, "to bend nature to your will, and speak to all kinds of animal for help. But you must always remember with every blessing is a curse."
"Of course, of course sir, I would love to be Mother Nature, and protect the nature around us!" The child stated eagerly. The excitement was clear on his face.
" Ok kid calm down!" The man all about shouted, " you'll have to trust me, and follow my instructions, step by step got it?"
"Mhm yes sir I got it. Step by step." The boy replied.
"Ok sorry kid, there's no real steps, just hope your able to take some pain." After the stranger said this the boy was a little weary.
"Wha—." The boy didn't even finish speaking the question before the stranger pulled out a green dagger. The next thing the kid knew he was being stabbed in the heart. A surge of energy went through the air, and the boy passed out on the ground. Once everything started to turn back to normal and the rose bush started reviving, the masked stranger knew it was time to take his leave as he disappeared into the air.
When the boy awoke he was confused there was no blood where he was stabbed. At the time he figured he was just hallucinating the entire thing, and had just fell asleep on the bench because everything was back to normal. As he went to go stand up he heard something, a voice!
"Hey down here!" It was a kitten talking to him. But that's a story for another time.
