It was a bright Friday afternoon. Ryan was walking home from a long day full of tests. Just as she was about to walk down the street, someone shouted for to stop. Confused, Ryan turned around only to see Jimmy facing her.
"Hi! Are we on for movie night," he asked. Ryan's heart beat against her chest. Jimmy had been her crush for 3 years. All she could do is nod, her breath taken away at the thought of going to see a movie with Jimmy.
The thing is, Jimmy and Ryan have been close friends for almost 5 years now. He's never given Ryan any hints that he likes her. He actually hangs out with some other girls more than he does with her. All Ryan can do is hope that Jimmy eventually shares her feelings.
Ryan and Jimmy walked home in silence, enjoying the fresh fall air. Ryan felt like she was going to die.
"So, I thought we could go and see 'Crazy Rich Asians' at 5:00," Said Jimmy. If you don't know, that is a cheesy romance movie. They agreed and continued to walk home in silence.
A couple of minutes later, they arrived at Ryan's house. Jimmy went strait to the kitchen and got a snack. Ryan went upstairs and changed out of her school uniform.
Before Ryan and Jimmy knew it, it was 4:45. They filed into Ryan's mom's car. She drove them to the theaters, gave them 20 bucks, and said she would be back at about 7:00. The movie was about to start so Ryan bought some popcorn and two cokes. Jimmy went ahead to the theater.
"So I'm supposed to do all the work now," Ryan asked sitting down next to Jimmy.
"Hey! Don't make me feel guilty," Jimmy muttered. Just then, the lights dimmed and the previews started playing. None of the movies featured interested Ryan in any way. But Jimmy was interested in almost all of them.
"I don't know why you want to see Halloween so much," Ryan whispered after noticing Jimmy's interest in it. It seemed like any old horror movie to her.
Jimmy just shrugged and continued to watch intently. Ryan rolled her eyes and started to eat some popcorn. She was ready to wait for the movie to start.
Suddenly, the lights went out! The movie screen went blank! Women started screaming and phone lights went on
"JIMMY! WHERE ARE YOU!"
