You're like sand
Bunches of small, rough pieces
Thrown together softly
You are patches of imperfection
Bundles of blunders
Your insides are all mixed and mismatched
Yet smooth to touch
The haphazard pieces of you
Create something so gentle
You slip through the cracks of
Everything
Anything
I capture you
Momentarily
And then you escape through the
Loose seams of my fingers
I wish you'd hold still
A while
Let me examine
Your unique concoction
Harsh and soft
Slippery and solid
But I barely have time
To watch the wind carry you off
To hear you breeze past my ear
Small flurries of dust becoming your shadow
